Joseph Petro, a 63-year-old tourist from Czech Republic, had come to Udaipur along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law. They were staying in Hotel Udaigarh at Lalghat area of the Walled City.
“The deceased had a heart ailment. On Monday night, the family was getting down through stairs when suddenly the old man lost balance and fell on the ground. He sustained severe head injury. His family rushed him to a private hospital with the help of the hotel staff. However, he was declared brought dead. His body has been kept in the mortuary at the civil hospital,” Rajendra Jain, SHO Ghantaghar police station informed.
The officer said that the family refused for a post-mortem. “His wife has given a citation to take the body back home without conducting an autopsy as it was a natural death. We have sent the request to the embassy and as soon as we get a ‘No Objection’, they would be allowed to leave,” Jain said.
