Afrazul didn’t know ‘girl’, say relatives

Udaipur: While Afrazul’s family is yet to get over the shock of his brutal end, his relatives in Rajsamand claim that he had no animosity with anybody, neither did he know the girl whom Shambulal had reportedly rescued from West Bengal years ago.

Afrazul Lived with his son-in-law Musharaff, nephew Inamul Sheikh in a rented room in Dhoinda area.

Earlier, he lived near Jalchakki, later shifted to Dhoinda where many labourers from Bengal lived on share basis. Inamul and Musharaff are waiting to collect the death certificate and other documents including the post-mortem report and then would leave for their native place, they said.

His nephew said that on the fateful day, it had been raining when Afrazul received a call.

He left home saying that he was going to Jalchakki and within few hours, they were informed of the terrible news. The men claimed that Afrazul didn’t even know the girl for whose prestige Shambulal is claimed to have committed the heinous crime.

The girl, Wasin, had relations with some Bengali labourer which Shambulal didn’t like and so as to teach her a lesson, he wanted to punish anyone who came his way and hence Afrazul became his prey, they said.

Sources also claimed that someone misled Shambulal that Afrazul was one among those who were constantly giving him life threats and so he was killed.
