Earlier in the day, the complainant wrote a letter to the vice-chancellor seeking permission for filing a police complaint against the teacher.
In a letter, the victim accused Sharma of making lewd remarks and uncalled gestures for the past two years.
“Sharma has been making uncalled remarks and gestures in the campus despite repeated protests. My brother raised objection to him in person but he didn’t stop harassing me. He started threatening to spoil my career if I dare to complaint,” said the complainant.
The accused is a head of department (Vyakaran Course) in the university. Sources said that the girl had to run from pillar to post for filling the complainant against the accused.
Hari Singh, sub-inspector, Muhana police station said, “The complaint has been filed late in the evening. I will investigate the matter on Wednesday morning.”
Vinod Shastri, vice-chanceller of the university, said, “I will keep the matter before discipline and anti-harassment committee. On the basis of the complainant, we have accessed the CCTV footage and will evaluate the claims made by the complainant.”
