Jaipur: The special task force (STF) has been Deployed at the tension-hit Chomu area of the city after tension was reported between the members of two communities late Sunday night.
Additional commissioner of Police (law and order), Nitin Deep Blaggan informed TOI that STF was deployed in order to avert any untoward situation. “The STF is being deployed as part of our precautionary measures. We have arrested four persons so far in the case,” he said, adding that no fresh incident of violence was reported and the situation remained peaceful. Blaggan said section 144 will remains in force for the month.
Th tension had prevailed in Chomu after members from two communities had a violent face off with each other over issue of eve teasing and altercation on Sunday evening. Four persons had sustained injuries.
The incident reportedly took place at 4 PM when an argument broke out youths from two different groups over eve teasing. A few minutes later, some Youth barged allegedly into a house and beat up a few boys which led to face off between two communities.
“There was some argument in the afternoon wherein some youths had allegedly misbehaved with a woman. In the afternoon, youths from one community reprimanded boys from another community over the issue. In the evening, one group of boys retuned with about 40 people and had heated talk and beat up youths who had reprimanded them earlier,” said Chomu assistant commissioner of police, Dinesh Kumar Sharma.
The Chomu police informed TOI that an FIR was field against as many as 10 people under different section of the IPC, including causing intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace etc. “The case is under investigation and will take action against the people involved in the act,” said an official. The police teams from nearby police stations, accompanied by reserve columns from the police line were also sent to the area to ensure that situation remain under control.
