Here as a brand ambassador for AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships (AWYWBC), Mary Kom said she will keep working for it over the next few years.
“Gold medal in Olympics… is what motivates me… I will try my best to fulfill my dream of getting an Olympic gold in the coming years. If I fail, I’ll be sorry,” the 34-year old told reporters on Saturday.
Returning to her favoured 48kg category after five years, Mary brought home her fifth Asian gold medal in Vietnam and first since 2012. Thanking the AIBA and BFI for allotting the AWYWBC to this part of the country, the only Indian woman pugilist to win an Olympic medal said that it is a great moment for the country’s young boxers.
