Priyanka was found dead inside a pit reportedly dug by resort owners for harvesting water. The parents, however, alleged conspiracy and filed a complaint against the resort owner and the school.
Police said that they were questioning a guard to find more details about the incident. “There was a school picnic. About 100 children from the school had come to the resort. The girl was killed after she fell into a pit inside the resort. A case under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) has been filed against the school and the resort,” said Bhankrota police station house officer (SHO) Hemendra Sharma.
Priyanka’s father had received a call from the school teacher that his daughter had fallen into a pit and admitted to a hospital. By the time the father reached the hospital, Priyanka had died.
The parents insisted that the police investigate their daughter’s death and register a case. Following this, cops spoke to both the school staff and the resort manager. “The resort staff said that the teachers should not have let the students go beyond their sight. But school teachers said that the resort had dug a pit which was covered with water. No children could have identified it because there were no warning boards,” the police said.
An FIR has been registered and the police would investigate the cause of the death. “We have recorded the statements of both the resort and school staff,” Sharma said.
The body of the deceased girl was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Police officials said that the medical report may throw more light on the case.
