Notification on 7th Pay panel likely on Monday

Jaipur: The state government employees had to wait a little more to get the real benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission announced by the government on Tuesday. The reason is the delay in the fixation of according the new pay matrix.

The notification regarding the pay commission was expected on Wednesday, the last working day of the week before Diwali, but since the chief minister was out of Jaipur it is likely to happen only on next Monday, according to officials.

Sources in the finance department said the hike in the salary of employees in October and November as per the new pay band will reach the employees only with the salary of December.

The Finance department is exercising caution as wrong pay fixation in 2013 has cost the government Rs 738 crore. Because of that mistake now the juniors’ Grade Pay has exceeded the just seniors’ grade pay. The government had to ‘step up’ the grade pay of seniors and thus incurring an additional burden of Rs 429 crore and in additional to the pay out of the juniors by mistake paid of Rs 309 crore sources said.

According to sources the minimum pay hike of an employee would be Rs 5630 while the maximum would be Rs 20,500. Probation trainee’s salary would increase by 70 % of basic while maximum gratuity has been increased to Rs 20 lakh in place of Rs 10 lakh now.

Compensatory city allowance would be given in two slabs. For Jaipur Rs 630- Rs 1000 while for other cities like Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bikaner and Kota Rs 320 – Rs 620.

Various employees unions on Wednesday thanked the chief minister for its decision to implement the 7th pay commission recommendations which would cost the exchequer about Rs 10,500 crore a year.
