Prime Minister raises terrorism at BRICS again, says “coordinated action needed”

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing engagement with Africa in multiple sectors and the International Solar Alliance. After the Xiamen Declaration that condemned Terrorism and terror groups, PM Modi raised the issue of terrorism again and said, “We need coordinated action and cooperation in areas such as counter terrorism, cyber security and disaster management.”

Further the PM expressed acknowledgement and concern on climate change and said, “We need to work together to create a greener world and mitigate the menace of climate change.” He also urged Brics nations to work collectively for a digital world, skilled world, healthier world, equitable world and harmonious world.

Reiterating his vision for development, the Prime Minister said, “The bedrock of our development agenda lies in the notion of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ ” and called for an inclusive world, where the poorest of the poor are integrated into the financial mainstream.

President Xi Jinping chaired Emerging Market Economies and Developing Countries Dialogue and said that countries need to oppose protectionism and re-balance globalization to make it more sustainable.
