“You are the backbone in administration and you take the maximum decisions,” the PM was quoted as telling the over 80 officials of the rank of additional and joint secretary on Friday, part of his interactions with bureaucracy to find ways of better governance.
Sources said after listening to several officials, the PM remarked that their experience sounded as if people are living in a “golden age” while media reports project a picture in contrast.”His message was to improve governance, fast delivery of results and taking decisions that will bring change in lives of every common citizen,” said an official.
Sources said the PMO‘s top officials had taken note of the best suggestions made by five groups of officials which interacted with Modi in the past few weeks.
One of the interesting suggestions that came up during an earlier interaction was to put all cabinet proposals on a website and setting a deadline for all departments to submit their comments rather than the present practice of circulating hard copies and waiting for responses.
