I am happy being president of BJP: Amit Shah

LUCKNOW: Putting an end to speculations that his entry into Rajya Sabha from Gujarat means ministerial berth in Modi cabinet, national BJP chief Amit Shah said that he was happy and satisfied being BJP president. “Aap log dhakka mat lagayiye (don’t push me out),” Shah further said.

Shah was replying to a question on speculations that he would join Modi cabinet after being elected to Rajya Sabha. “There is no question of me joining the Modi cabinet. I have the responsibility of BJP president and I am happy and satisfied with the role,” Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Lucknow, said.

Shah also took a jibe at the Congress over its MLAs quitting the party in Gujarat. Replying to the accusation that the BJP is orchestrating the split in Congress in Gujarat before Rajya Sabha election, Shah said even though it was completely false, but what was happening Karanataka. Why are MLAs locked up at a resort in Banglore, when Karanatak has a Congress government, Shah said.

“It seems Congress does not have trust on its MLAs. Why have they been made prisoners?,”” Shah added.

To a question on reports of Samajwadi Party‘s Shivpal Yadav joining BJP, Shah dismissed it saying there have not been any discussions on him joining the saffron party. “Unhe lekar abhi aisi koi charcha nahi hai (We haven’t discussed him yet),” he said.

On the recent dvelopments in Bihar, Shah said Nitish himself decided to part ways from the RJD as he was not ready to side with corruption. The BJP didn’t split any party or was responsible for the fall of any government. “It was Nitish Kumar who resigned from the post of the chief minister as he did not want to continue with the corrupt. We can’t force him on gunpoint to continue the government with support from RJD,” Shah said.

Asked about reports of Samajwadi Party’s Shivpal Yadav joining BJP, Shah said that he has not received any proposal of that sorts. “Unhe lekar abhi aisi koi charcha nahi hai (There has been no discussion in the party about him),” he said.

Replying to a question on law and order situation in UP, Shah said that since the Yogi government got the state in a very bad condition, it will take some to time revive the state and promised that UP would tread the path of development in Yogi regime.

Shah also gave count of good work done during Prime Minister Narendra Modi government.

To a question on why he chose to have lunch at Yadav community member’s house, Shah said that he had lunch earlier even at a Dalit’s house and on Sunday he had a lunch at BJP worker Sonu Yadav’s house. The place otherwise is chosen by the local BJP unit, Shah said.

On his assessment of results during Lok Sabha Election 2019, Shah said that the BJP would get more number of seats than what it got in 2014 Lok Sabha election. Citing reason, Shah said development specific agenda of Modi and BJP ruled 13 states’ governments would help in achieving the goal.
