NEW DELHI: President-elect Ram Nath Kovind, hailing from North India, received his first gift after being elected in the form of a portrait of iconic Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, presented to him by BJP leader Tarun Vijay.

“Kovind will prove to be the most popular peoples’ president. His elevation as the head of state brings us closer to realise the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Deendayal Upadhyaya for social harmony,” Tarun Vijay said while presenting Kovind with the portrait of Thiruvalluvar.

Thirukural campaigner for the North (Ambassador in Tamil) and a worker for social equality, Tarun Vijay greeted the newly elected President H.E. Ramnath Kovind and presented him a portrait of great Tamil saint Thiruvalluvar along with a Tamil silken shawl and gangajal from Uttarakhand.

An amazing record for any president of India, that a President elect, who hails from North India, gets portrait of a great Tamil saint, that too from a North Indian parliamentarian,” said Tarun Vijay.
