Bangladesh to import, invest in power from neighbouring countries

Inaugurating four power plants with a capacity of 435 MW via video conferencing in Dhaka on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government is holding talks with India, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar to Import electricity.

She said that Bangladesh has imported 600 MW from India and it is planning to invest in Bhutan and Nepal. Discussions with Myanmar on the subject are continuing.

Prime Minister Hasina said that Bangladesh is generating 22,000 MW of electricity and 93 percent of people are under its coverage.
