Google Introduces New Job Search Feature for Indian Users

Lately, Google has been integrating a lot of useful services into its Search engine. Google has now partnered with job portals like Aasaanjobs, Freshersworld, Headhonchos, IBM Talent Management Solutions, LinkedIn and others to bring job listings within the search page. This feature will allow the users to search nearby jobs and also set relevant filters for the same.

Google has also released open documentation which will help both big and small organizations to leverage the new Job Search feature. This is done using open structured schema.org web markup standards supported by Google.

Rajan Anandan, Vice President India & Southeast Asia was quoted as follows, “We know that people turn to Search while looking for a job. In Q4 last year, we saw more than a 45% increase in the number of job search queries, and this number is continuously growing. However today, the job search experience is not always effective. On the other hand companies- especially SME’s- that are the largest job creators are often unable to make their listings discoverable. This new job search experience powered by our partners and our open platform approach attempts to bridge this gap.”

When users search for “jobs near me”, “jobs for freshers” or other related queries, Google will display a special module which can be expanded to see all the details. A simple click on the listing will open the job listing and one can also compare all the job openings from different companies in a single place. Moreover, Google is also offering other filters like job title, location, type of job full-time or part-time and other details.

Google has also partnered with T-Jobs an Open Data Initiative of the Government of Telangana. This will help people in Telangana to apply for jobs in Government sector. One can also set up email alerts for new job openings and also filter the jobs in accordance with the different sectors.
