Ever since one of its major investors, LeEco, went into a deep financial crisis, Chinese OEM, Coolpad, went into a phase of dormancy. It seemingly froze its operations in India, with the Coolpad Note 5 Lite being the last smartphone from the company.
After having parted ways with LeEco, and finding a replacement for the same in Power Sun Ventures, Coolpad is planning to crack the smartphones markets in both India and US. To kick off its comeback in India, the Chinese OEM has launched the Coolpad Mega 4A; a budget smartphone for the masses.
Unlike previous Coolpad smartphones, the all-new one will be exclusively available offline. This hints at a drastic change in the strategy for the company in its approach towards the Indian market. The Coolpad Mega 4A was officially launched on the OEM’s official Twitter handle for India.
Coolpad, apparently, doesn’t reveal many details regarding the firepower inside the Mega 4A. The teaser image shared on Twitter, however, reveal the presence of a 5-inch HD display. With that said, the IPS LCD panel comes with a stereotype 16:9 aspect ratio, and not 18:9 as seen in some modern ones. Besides, the Coolpad Mega 4A 16GB internal storage and runs on a dated build of Android Nougat 7.0. Furthermore, the smartphone comes with a dual SIM slot.
It isn’t surprising to see Coolpad launch its all-new budget smartphone with a dated built of Android. Coolpad had apparently delayed the announcement of the phone by over 6 months and was supposed to unveil the same soon after the launch of its Coolpad Play 6 in Dubai.
Coolpad Mega 4A has been priced rather competitively at Rs 5,999. It’s currently on sale through a majority of brick and mortar stores across the country. Earlier this year, at the MWC 2018, Coolpad had announced its plan to push support for Amazon Alexa via an OTA (over-the-air) update to all its major devices including the Coolpad Cool Play 6, Coolpad Note 5 and the Note 5 Lite. Therefore, it would be interesting to see whether the all-new Coolpad Mega 4A comes with the same.
