Google Classroom is now Open for Everyone, Including Personal Accounts

Google has kickstarted yet another initiative called the Classroom last year around. Now anyone with a Google account can start their own classroom educational service and according to Google, this can help people teach/learn about hobbies, education and other programs. The Classroom will be supplementing the YouTube tutorials and adds an extra layer of intuitiveness.

With the Google Classroom, publishers/teachers can add a slew of resources including post tasks, assignments and interact with the students in a much better way. Google had been testing the tool for quite some time and only last month it opened up the service for anyone to join. It’s worth reckoning here that one need not have an access to the G Suite for Education. Microsoft too has a similar platform which is also called Classroom but needs an active Office 365 Education subscription.

“Technology makes learning possible anytime, anywhere. Learners aren’t always sitting in a classroom, and educators aren’t always lecturing at a chalkboard. That’s why last month we made Google Classroom available to users without G Suite for Education accounts. Now, using a personal Google account, teachers and learners in many different settings can teach or attend classes, manage assignments, and instantly collaborate.”-Google

It is platforms like this that will make a huge difference across various sectors of education. Just imagine how the learners in a far flung remote area with limited access to resources can get access to quality education. Furthermore, schools can also create a group and manage all the activities and take part in weekly discussions. Frankly speaking, the Classroom can also shape up as a virtual noticeboard, one wherein all the updates about your course will be put up. Let’s hope that platforms like Google Classroom bridge the gap between the quality of education and also let people pursue their hobbies remotely.

One of the quintessential aspects of the virtual classroom ecosystem is that unlike the YouTube videos the teacher/publisher will be able to gauge the reaction thus allowing students to be proactive in nature. Let’s hope that the Educational institutes will leverage the platform and change the ways of learning.
