Fitbit’s new Alta HR is the World’s Slimmest Band with Continuous Heart Rate Tracking

Fitbit has launched an iterative upgrade to its Alta fitness band with the Alta HR which, as the name suggests, ameliorates the original with a continuous Heart Rate scanner. It also brings significantly detailed sleep tracking than before and is available for pre-order today on Amazon for a questionable sum of INR 14,999.

The new Fitbit Alta HR features a heart rate monitor, however, without any substantial bumps and weight. It has an OLED display just like before, tracks your activities, shows notifications, and according to the company, lasts an entire week on a single charge which is in fact, two days longer than the original. This makes the Alta HR the fourth Fitbit product line to include heart rate sensors after the Charge, Blaze, and Surge.

Fitbit also says that they’ve been developing the Alta HR for nearly a year to shrink its heart rate monitor to a size that would fit in the tiny wristband, which is 25 percent smaller than the Charge 2. The other new feature – Sleep Stages and Sleep Insights. Apart from calculating how much you slept, the Alta HR will now take motion data and heart rate variability into account for graphing light, deep, and REM sleep stages. Sleep Insights, on the other hand, will link your daily activities with sleeping scheduling, so you’ve a better understanding of what works best for your body.

The Fitbit Alta HR will be exclusively available for pre-order on Amazon for a price tag of INR 14,999 from 15 to 31 March 2017. From 01-15 April 2017, Alta HR will be on sale on Amazon.in and from 16 April 2017 onwards, you will be able to purchase across major India retailers including Reliance Digital, Croma, Helios, Jumbo and Vijay Sales. There’s also a special edition which comes in Gun Metal and Rose Gold, that will cost INR 16,999. Lastly, rates for additional bands are  – INR 2,999 for classic bands, INR 5,999 for Luxe Leather bands, and INR 9,999 for Luxe Metal Bracelet.
