Cars That Take You To The Ends Of The Earth

The CarBibles publication has presented a list of the 10 most advanced Camper vans. Some are based on conventional models, while others are designed from scratch. One way or another, they are all prepared for long journeys and are not afraid of the most difficult routes.

Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6×6 Custom Camper

From the factory, the Mercedes-Benz Zetros is an all-wheel drive truck designed specifically for extreme off-road use. The car is powered by a 7.2-liter V6 turbodiesel that produces 326 hp. and 1,355 Nm, available from 1,200 to 1,600 rpm.

The camper built on the basis of this tractor looks really brutal. Outside, the car is notable for “toothy” tires, a massive chandelier on the roof and a weighty box of the passenger compartment. Despite such a harsh appearance, the interior of the camper pleases with home comfort and rich equipment, which not every modern limousine can match.

This camper is suitable not only for ordinary trips with the whole family to nature, and it is quite possible to imagine it as part of some polar expedition.

Global XRS 7200

The Global XRS 7200 is specifically designed to tackle some of the hardest-to-reach places on the planet. This 18-tonne off-road camper has a 6 × 6 wheel arrangement and from the outside can be mistaken for a mobile command center, but the interior of the car welcomes passengers with home comfort and the highest level of equipment.

In particular, the truck boasts an advanced multimedia center, while lithium-ion batteries are used to power on-board devices, which are recharged by solar panels located on the roof.

EarthRoamer XC-LTS

This camper is built by the Colorado firm EarthRoamer on the chassis of a Ford F-550 4WD pickup truck, while it is driven by a highly efficient and powerful turbodiesel. Such a car is not afraid of off-road conditions and can be operated at any time of the year.

The EarthRoamer XC-LTS has multiple rooftop solar panels to power the on-board electronics and is also air-suspended for a high level of comfort even off public roads.

SportsMobile Classic 4×4

This camper is strikingly different from the cars presented in the selection and is built on the basis of an old GMC Vandura minivan from 1983. Unlike a donor, such a car has a sportier raised suspension and off-road tires.

The SportsMobile Classic 4 × 4 also features a stronger, sleeker body that’s not afraid of off-road testing, powered by a 6.0-liter V10 engine paired with a five-speed Torqshift transmission.

Mog Home Ziegler Adventure

The development of this mobile home was clearly carried out with an eye on the German Unimog off-road truck, which is even reflected in the model name. The car itself is an extra-class off-road tourist camper.

This means that the car provides passengers with the highest level of comfort comparable to modern sedans, and at the same time you can drive it wherever you look.

Applied Minds KiraVan

The Applied Minds KiraVan camper is designed by Bran Ferren. The man often travels through the harsh Afghanistan, and therefore decided to create a car in which his four-year-old daughter Kira would feel as comfortable as possible. Interestingly, Disney also participated in the construction of such a machine.

The KiraVan camper turned out to be quite heavy – it weighs as much as 23 tons. This is due to the fact that the car is literally stuffed with various equipment and is a real “Disneyland on wheels”. Of course, there are no attractions inside, but there are plenty of other entertainments. For example, there are unmanned drones on board that allow you to assess the terrain in the area from a bird’s eye view.

FTS 800 Expedition Vehicle

This mid-size camper is built by the Japanese truck manufacturer Isuzu. Taking the FTS 800 4×4 workhorse as a basis, the company’s specialists significantly changed the design of the machine and installed the corresponding wheels on it.

The passenger compartment has a fairly spacious kitchen and dining room, a separate bathroom and a comfortable sleeping place.

The camper is equipped with a 239-horsepower V6 engine and a retuned suspension. However, you shouldn’t expect off-road exploits from this model, although the car feels good outside of public roads.

Iveco Daily 4×4 Bimobil EX

The Iveco Daily 4×4 truck is one of the best commercial vehicles used in many industries. There are also full-fledged campers in nature, built on the basis of this model. High ground clearance, decent angles of entry and exit, as well as the presence of a differential lock make the truck quite suitable for field trips.

Land Rover Defender Icarus

The original Land Rover Defender is an off-roader from the factory that will help you get where other cars simply can’t. At the same time, the specialists of the South African company Alu-Cab decided to modify the model, making it suitable for long-distance travel.

Their modification was named “Icarus” and it cannot be called a full-fledged camper, since there is no sleeping place in its cabin. But the SUV flaunts the presence of a tourist awning on the roof, which is designed for two people and can be expanded / folded in a matter of seconds.

Plus, the modification has a portable folding kitchen stove and fluorescent lamps, while the developers also equipped the car with solar panels, thanks to which the driver and passengers can always recharge their mobile devices.

Bliss Mobil Expedition Vehicle

Like other models in this collection, the Bliss Mobil Expedition Vehicle is designed to travel to the most remote corners of the planet.

Such a camper is made by specialists from the Danish company Bliss Mobil, while they are ready to take into account all the wishes of customers regarding the shape and size of the body. The latter here is made of high-strength steel, and solar panels are again installed on its roof.
