Although Renault positioned the Arkana crossover as a model designed specifically for the Russian market, the French also announced options for other countries. In February of the twentieth, a version of the SUV was presented for South Korea, where this machine will be sold under the name Samsung XM3.

The concept version of this off-road vehicle was shown back in March 1919, and now the developers, represented by Renault Samsung Motors, have presented a commercial version of the model.

The new Samsung XM3 2020 differs from the Russian Arcana not only in logos. Outside, the SUV for the Korean market has additional chrome, other stampings and linings in the lower part of the doors, as well as a different rear bumper and original “stuffing” of the taillights.

The interior here turned out to be completely unique – only a similar steering wheel with paddle shifters reminds of the original Arcana. In the base, the crossover for South Korea is equipped with a 7.0-inch display of the multimedia system, and the top versions are equipped with a 9.3-inch and have a digital tidy with a 10.25 ″ screen.

Technically, the Samsung XM3 differs from the Renault Arkana even more. First of all, such a crossover was based not on the B0 platform, but on the more modern CMF-B “cart”, on which, for example, the European Captur is based. The crossover has a semi-independent rear suspension and disc brakes in a circle. The wheelbase of the model is 2 720 mm (as on the Arcana), but the ground clearance is slightly less – 186 mm (- 19).

The line of power units is represented by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, well-known to Russians, working in conjunction with a variator, although the car can also be ordered with a 1.3-liter TCe turbo engine, which is paired with a seven-speed Getrag robot with two “wet” clutches. The performance of these motors on the Korean crossover is not advertised, while it is known that the car can be driven exclusively by the front.

The basic equipment of the Samsung XM3 is quite rich: the car has six airbags and an electromechanical handbrake. Plus, for the SUV, numerous electronic assistants are offered, including automatic braking, monitoring of “blind” zones and tracking the lane markings.

The start of sales of Samsung XM3 in the South Korean market is scheduled for March 2020, the price of the model starts there at $ 14,800 for the naturally aspirated version and from $ 17,900 for the turbo engine. Renault Samsung Motors places high hopes on the new product and does not exclude the possible appearance of the car in Europe, where the SUV will be sold under the Renault brand.
