We accidently started an office debate the other day on who we thought are the most Influential Runners that everyone should be following.

After many hours of intense debate, we’ve put together what we consider to be the a complete and balanced list of 28 influential runners that everyone should be following on Twitter. It includes professional athletes, coaches and bloggers.

When it comes to staying up-to-date with what’s hot in the world of Running, these are the people to follow.



Heather is a trail runner, outdoor enthusiast and gear guru for Backpacker Mag.



Emz often tweets about balancing life as a mom and ultra-marathon runner. Oddly, she is one of the only people we know who actually loves running on treadmills.



Welsh, ultra-marathon runner and published author, Steve is a fountain of knowledge on all Things Running and often shares interesting content.



Karla is a New York based TV host, Shape magazine contributor and of course – NYC Marathon announcer.



Nathan is one of our favourite runners to follow on Twitter. Having completed 31 ultra-marathons, Nathan offers a depth of knowledge on all things running related.



Pete is the guy to follow if you’re interested in reading no-nonsense shoe review. His blog is has thousands of in-depth reviews on every shoe that you can think of.



Cool Running are the original founders of the extremely popular Couch-To-5K plan that has been designed to get everyone running, regardless of experience.



Thad is the author of Full-Body Fitness for Runners and host of RunnerDude’s Blog.



Jill’s passion for all things running is extremely clear. She tweets about everything from physical and mental wellbeing to reviews of the latest programs and gear. Expect lots of shoe selfies.



Kim is a busy bee. She is the co-founder of the Fit Mom Diet, a chef and fitness model.



Jessica often tweets about balancing parenting and running. Jessica is always good source of running inspiration.



Shelly is a no-nonsense runner and personal trainer; her tweets are bad-ass and always extremely motivational!

Abby is a RRCA certified run coach whose mission in life seems to be to provide one of the most interesting running feeds on Twitter.



Jess is a UESCA certified run coach with an MS in Exercise Science. Jess often tweets interesting tips and shares interesting running related articles from around the web.





For those who haven’t heard of Jim Lynch before need to know only 1 thing about him – he’s a legend! Jim has completed over 100 marathons including finishing events in all 50 states. He’s also the author of One Foot in Front of The Other.



Dorothy Beal is the creator of I Run This BodyTM and a Women’s Running cover model. Her Twitter feed is a fantastic resource for all things running.



Steve is another running legend on our list. Steve coaches the University of Houston XC team along with a number of professional athletes. Along with working on his PhD in Exercise Science, he’s also the author of Science of Running.



Jay is one of our favourite coaches to following on Twitter. He often shares fantastic advice along with some very insightful blog posts.



No list of runners of Twitter would be complete without Amanda Brooks. Amanda shares some fantastic content although her feed is best avoided when hungry (she shares some awesome recipes).



David Hylton is founder of #RunChat, a weekly Twitter discussion group on all things running. If you haven’t taken part in the weekly chat then you’re really missing out as it contains some great training tips, tricks and advice.
