PURPLE INN CHALET, TELOK GONG – 11 NOV 2017

Purple Inn Chalet, Telok Gong – 11 NOV 2017

A much needed break from our routine daily lives. So much has been going behind the scene in Fishyology. Major changes and it has been overwhelming for me. Deep down I wish  nothing changes and I could live the live I wanted. I believe thing will get better soon hopefully. I appreciate all the support from my friends. Give Fishyology time to get back on our feet and we will be strong again.

What better ways to restart our momentum with a weekend outing in Purple Inn Chalet, Telok Gong. It has been a while since we did something simple like this. Azmi Tajudin, Hafiz Azmi and Anis Khakim decided to take part in this short overnight outing. Bottom fishing for anything that bites in Klang Estuary. We are not expecting to be fighting monster fish or rare trophy game fish. Take it easy, enjoy the evening and have fun.

We were lucky to get a slot during that particular weekend. We tried many location but most of them were fully booked.  I made a call on Wed and the chalet is available for then weekend as I was told a group just cancelled the trip for the date.

Get ready for our little weekend outing!
Waiting for our boatman to give a ride to our exclusive water raft in Klang Estuary

Purple Inn Chalet has been around for quite some time. I think they have been operating since the day Fishyology start sharing our adventure on the Internet. It is a water raft stationed few hundred meter from Pengkalan Nelayan Telok Gong. Quite a proper water raft with a small chalet built on it. It has a proper kitchen with all the cooking utensils and gas stove. Complete with plastic glass and plates. It is also equipped with a toilet with plenty of fresh water supply. During the night, the Chalet care taker would drop by and lite up the portable electric generator to supply us with electricity during the night. He also will bring clean grill for our barbecue pit. Overall it was a nice humble setup to spend a night at the estuary fishing for any fish.

I’ve been here with a group of executive from Hays and it was quite a good outing. To bad I was too busy managing those guys as I was not stocking some good photos for a proper report. This time I will enjoy the fishing outing and will make most of the free time I had with my buddies. Journey from jetty takes less than 10 minutes and it was a swift process transferring all our fishing equipment and cool box to the chalet.

Reach the front door of Purple Inn Chalet!

We all get out stuff sorted out as soon as possible. As usual, I would be tying up all the hooks and sinkers on all 5 rods that I brought for the trip. Azmi and Anis get all the food and drinks in the ice box. Hafiz has been busy setting up his new DJI Sparks. As soon as all the fishing rod is ready. We get our fishing started for the day.

It was a perfect condition. At least for our outdoor photography and video footage. Enough light to get the bright blue sky color and nice gold amber of the sun across the horizon. It has been raining all week long and today was just perfect. We had some nice lamb chops and some chicken thigh fillet for the BBQ. Glazed with Honey Mustard sauce. The quickest way to get your BBQ set and ready. Anis did some fishing for starters and later it was his duty get the fire lite up. For ages, Anis was our sacred Flame Master for the grill haha.

Waiting for that big bite at the end of the line
A whole stretch of saltwater! Hopefully something would bite soon!
Hafiz getting ready to test his DJI Spark out here in Telok Gong!

When we had a total noob on our fishing outing, something special always happen. Anis was the first person to get the ball rolling with a small croaker or gelama. The most common fish that we can find out here. We had dead prawn as bait. Last time it was quite effective as we landed some large Croaker and a large Saltwater Catfish. We had a few bite during the day and the fast flowing current started to ease down a bit. Opening a good window for some good fishing. Unfortunately nothing were interested with our bait. We had our grill ready and soon we had our marinated lamb hit the flaming hot iron grill. It will be dark soon. The portable generator were turned on and will power the light on all Purple Inn Chalet.

Get those lovely chop some nice grill marks!
Pace is set! Biggest fish of the day so far haha!
Feels good to be out here! Waiting for the final flicker of lights amber..
Once a Man cross the line in fishing. You are hooked for life!
First fish for Azmi!

We had an early dinner. Food taste better on charcoal. Surprised there aren’t many mosquito around to bother us that night. We had nothing else to do except fishing. . We only had catfish and small Croaker. Azmi was lucky with back to back small Moray Eel haha. On his third attempt, as soon as the bait landed on the sea floor. An unknown fish just snatch the bait and broke the fishing line. That was unexpected but it got us fired up that night to try harder.

Anis was hooked that night. He can’t seems to stop fishing. He kept on trying all night and somehow he was annoyed when the bait were taken without any fish at the end of the line haha. Being in the military, I guess it is part of motivation to keep on going until he get the big one. Hard work paid off as he was to only person enjoying the night fishing. I throw the towel early around 12 and was lying around getting ready for bed. In fact Anis was the only one left, still fishing till the next morning. Haha. We had fun in Purple Inn Chalet!

Told ya, once you cross over, there is no turning back!

At night it was cooler than expected. I had to sleep inside the Chalet as it was clearly too cold to sleep outside. Even when I woke up at 4am, Anis was still with his fishing rod hahaha. I woke up around 8.00am in the morning. Checked all the fishing rod and all rods are still around haha. The estuary however were filled with floating garbage. We even run out of baits thanks to Anis perseverance in fishing. We are expecting Cipel to come with breakfast as we finished all our food. He did showed up in the end with bag of Nasi Lemak and Nescafe!. Just in time for some breakfast and ready to packed all our stuff. Check out time is 11.00am, we had about 2 hours to end our short trip.

Final fish of the day!
Good enough for a side dish in Malaysia local cuisine
Last minute effort for the big and special one haha.

Overall Purprle Inn Chalet, Telok Gong is a nice place to experience outdoor fishing with friends and family. The chalet is kept clean and the facilities were complete for a full functional Chalet. The only setback was the fishing location. I’d never expect to catch anything from this estuary but catch result sometimes is rewarding if you know the right time and bait to fish in this location. If fishing result is secondary and wanting to try sea fishing without the sea sick. Then this is a place for your. I had a great time and great company for this particular weekend. Next round we will try another location in Sepang, Selangor.

Thank you! See you in January 2018!
