Not a day removed from his victory in a playoff at the Memorial, Viktor Hovland is at U.S. Open Qualifying in Columbus, Ohio, helping his friend and former college teammate Zach Bauchou qualify for this month’s United States Open at Los Angeles Country Club.
Hovland was spotted getting yardages, cleaning club faces, and carrying the bag for Bauchou, a teammate on the 2018 NCAA Championship Team, for Monday’s 36-hole qualifier, which includes an 8 am tee time at Lakes Golf & Country Club and another 2 pm tee time at Brookside Golf & Country Club.

Bauchou has played in five PGA Tour events, and Monday qualified for the Mexico Open, which Tony Finau won.

Hovland won his first PGA Tour event in the United States yesterday after besting Denny McCarthy in one hole at The Memorial at Muirfield and was greeted by Jack Nicklaus after his triumph. Hovland rebounded yesterday after heartbreak at the PGA Championship, as he entered the final round paired with Brooks Koepka.
The U.S. Open will be next week at Los Angeles Country Club. It was played last year at the Country Club at Brookline and won by Matthew Fitzpatrick.
