Remember the classic Seinfeld episode when Jerry gets heckled on stage and decides to visit the Heckler at work to heckle her? Better yet, how about when Happy Gilmore gets taunted by the infamous “Jackass” heckler from behind the ropes?
Well, instead of starting confrontation like Happy did on the course, Ian Poulter took a play right out of Seinfeld’s playbook. After being heckled at The Valspar Classic a few weeks back and instead of digging at the heckler, the Englishman decided to let the heckler’s employer know of his shameful actions.
J.J. Downum (the heckler) originally tweeted this out before it was deleted:
‘Quick story from the Valspar…Ian Poulter is making the walk from 12 to 13. I yell “you will NOT make the Ryder Cup team!’ Followed by a ‘YOU WILL HIT IT IN THE WATER!’ Ian turns to a rules official and asks that my friend and I be removed from the premises. We talk to the cops, rules official and they ask us to wait until Ian moves on to the next hole and we could return to the Hooters tent. Ian hit his tee shot on the the (sic) par 3 into the water, thins (sic) we got kicked out, and we’re still boozing! I’m swimming circles in Ian Poutler’s (sic) brain and might (probably) kept him off the Ryder Cup Team..LETS GO!’
Poulter decided to get even by posting this tweet as brilliant retaliation:
I’m sure @FSC_Athletics & @FscSports are really proud of your professionalism. I wish you the very best Ian pic.twitter.com/jqFa3WVuDC

According to Golf Channel, the Athletic Director from FSC was fired from his position after Poulter cited his unprofessionalism to the twitter universe. “He’s no longer employed at the institution,” Pete Meyer, Florida Southern’s director of athletics, said on Wednesday.
There’s a few guys on TOUR you don’t want to mess with and Ian Poulter has just proved himself to be one of them. Next time you want to bash a public figure on social media, make sure you think twice before doing so.
