NEWS: Matthew Wolff DQ’d After Signing Incorrect Scorecard

According to the tournament headquarters at the Masters, Matthew Wolff was disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard following his second round effort at Augusta.

Wolff made the infraction on the 17th hole, where according to Augusta National he “returned a scorecard with a hole score lower than he actually made.” It was not made clear what Wolff wrote on his scorecard for the hole, though it was obviously a score lower than the bogey that was actually scored.

At the time of the infraction, Wolff was 6-over on the day, for a total of 10-over for the week. If he had signed his scorecard correctly, he would have missed the cut anyways, forcing him to sit out the weekend regardless of the silly mistake.

At this time, it doesn’t seem that Wolff has issued any statement regarding the issue, although because he was so far outside the cutline at the time, it seems more of an honest mistake rather than a blatant attempt at cheating.

Wolff will be watching the final rounds of the Masters from the couch this weekend, just as he did last November where he failed to make the cut.
