DHS A5002 Racket Review

The DHS A5002 is one of the more expensive Table Tennis rackets produced by DHS and part of their premade bat series. DHS is the most well-known and established table tennis brand in China. They usually produce very high-quality equipment. Here is our full review of the racket.

You can buy this racket on Amazon for $40 or £30. It isn’t as great value as the DHS A4002 (which is ridiculously cheap at the moment) but it is still a good price.

DHS A5002

Here’s everything you need to know about the DHS A5002 table tennis racket…

The rubbers used on the racket are the ITTF approved DHS Hurricane 3 and DHS Skyline TG2. These are proper table tennis rubbers that you can buy individually. They are both quite hard, tacky Chinese rubbers. Great for fast topspin but not as good for blocking and control.

The DHS 5-Star blade is a 5-ply wood blade. It is quite fast but not made from the highest quality materials.

THE REVIEW

The DHS A5002 is a decent table tennis racket but certainly not worth twice as much as the DHS A4002.

DHS Hurricane 3 is a really well-known rubber. The Hurricane series of rubbers are used by many of the top Chinese players. This will be a lower quality version of it, but it is still decent. Skyline TG2 is fairly similar. Together you get two good rubbers on this racket. It would be nice if they were a little bit softer – to better suit beginners – but nevermind.

As I said earlier, it’s the 5-Star blade that I believe lets down this racket. It would be nice to see a higher quality blade. Some of the professional DHS blades are really nice.

OTHER OPTIONS

If you are thinking about buying a DHS A5002 table tennis racket I would personally recommend going for the Palio Expert 2 instead. The Palio Expert 2 is about the same price and has a much nicer feel to it. The rubbers have a softer sponge which helps with control and feeling when learning new strokes. This is especially helpful on the backhand side.

The wooden Palio Expert 2 blade is also much better quality and more similar to the professional blades you can buy individually. If you were to compare the DHS A5002 to the Palio Expert 2 side-by-side you would immediately be able to notice the difference between the two rackets. The Palio Expert 2 simply feels a lot better to play with.
