The arrival of Ole Gunnar-Solksjaer was certainly important in influencing Martial’s decision to stay at Old Trafford.
The French international has been having a rather difficult relationship with previous United boss, Jose Mourinho. Things got even worse this summer, especially during pre season, triggering speculation about his potential departure.
However, ever since Solksjaer arrived, the former Monaco man has been getting more regular playing time and seems to be enjoying himself again.
Martial himself acknowledge his new manager’s influence in making him eventually accepting Man United’s renewal.
“I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level,” Martial said in a statement. “This club is all about winning trophies and I am sure the next piece of silverware is not that far away.”
The 23-year-old attacker’s new agreement with United means that he will be at Old Trafford until 2024.
Moreover, The Red Devils apparently also have an option to extend it for another 12 months.
It’s certainly a positive news for Man United as they can feel a relief over not losing one of their talented players easily.
