We are excited to introduce you to the Cube Reaction twins. They have just been added to our mountain bike collection: the luxurious Cube Reaction GTC One and Cube Reaction GTC Eagle 1X. Luxurious, because one has electronic shifting with a Shimano XT Di2 groupset and the other has a brand new Sram X01 Eagle 1×12-speed drivetrain. Which one would you choose?
The frame of the Cube Reaction Gtc (Gran Turismo Composite) comes freakishly close to the holy grail of mountain bike frames. The frame is incredibly light, efficient, and comfortable at the same time.
To achieve this they used a ‘Twin Mould’ technology. They used a mould on the inside of the frame so the crucial connections of the Cube frame (bottom bracket, headset, and the cross of the seat stays with the seat tube) have a much sturdier construction.
This results in a more durable product and increased stiffness of the frame. The specially designed X12 thru axle drop-outs also contribute to the stiffness of the Cube mountain bikes.
The Agile Ride Geometry of Cube mountain bikes makes this frame suitable for big 29” wheels.
Cube Reaction GTC One
The Cube Reaction GTC One has a Shimano XT Di2 M8050 11-Speed drive. With a single push of the button or pull of the lever, you can shift up and down your cassette extremely quickly and accurately.
A computer-controlled automatic trim functionality on the front derailleur makes sure the set runs smoothly. The rear derailleur on the Cube shifts seamlessly, even in extreme conditions, on steep climbs, or if the cassette is clogged with mud.
The derailleur drive is twice as powerful as the Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2, to achieve the most accurate shifts in extreme conditions.
The Fulcrum Red 66 wheelset has a 15 mm quick release on the front and an X12 thru axle on the rear. The front wheel is equipped with a Liteskin Rocket Ron tyre and the rear wheel with a Racing Ralph, which together can handle a whole range of surfaces perfectly.
It also shows that Cube listens to their customers, because we would also choose this tyre combination. The front fork is a RockShox Reba RL with 100 mm travel.
Cube Reaction GTC Eagle 1X
The Cube Reaction Gtc Eagle is the first and only bike in our range that has an Eagle 1×12 speed drivetrain. Sram is of course a pioneer when it comes to new shift systems. We are incredibly curious if the 1×12 trend is going to be picked up by other manufacturers.
The Eagle cassette is the same as the 11-speed cassette, but with an added 50t gear. This means the cassette looks as follows: 10t, 12t, 14t, 16t, 18t, 21t, 24t, 28t, 32t, 36t, 42t, 50t.
Only the largest sprocket is made out of aluminium. The others are made of one piece CNC machined steel. The 12-speed cassette fits the XD driver.
The distance between the different gears has been reduced so the chain could also be narrower.
In front you can find the RockShox Reba RL with 100mm travel. The bike has a Fulcrum Red 44 wheel set. The bike weighs 10.5 kg (23lbs, 2oz) which makes it half a kilo (1.2 oz) lighter than the Cube Reaction GTC One.
