Suomy Cycling Helmets – Striking Italian Design

A good helmet is, luckily, a standard part of the outfit nowadays. That’s why we have a large collection of helmets to choose from, because not everybody has the same taste.
We recently added Suomy helmets to this collection. These Italian helmets with their striking design will probably not be everyone’s favourite, but they are still worth trying. Agnes tells us why you should wear a Suomy helmet.

Look at their motto; ‘To be #1’, and you’ll know you’ll be alright. Suomy has made a name in the motor sport, funnily.

Suomy was founded in 1997, when Umberto Monti wanted to start anew, together with his two brothers. After a long career at Yamaha he was looking for something new and wanted to focus on Helmets only.

Suomy history

Rear Italians like style, ‘Made in Italy’, which is why they founded Suomy. The large logo with the red dot in the middle can’t be missed, because it is printed on the front of every Suomy helmet. Not only the logo catches the eye.

The Suomy design is one you won’t forget quickly.

Suomy is a brand that doesn’t shy away from flowers and glitter. This is new, if you keep in mind that they were mostly active in the motor sport. But when they noticed the decline in that sport, they quickly added a new collection of cycling helmet, where they also use the bright designs and colours. Since 2013 they have been producing cycling helmets, and are quickly making a name.

Suomy also has great mountain bike helmets.

Nowadays they are fully integrated in the pack. Suomy sponsors both road racing teams and cyclo-cross teams. Veranda’s Willems-Crelan-Charles Pro Cycling Team, with Wout van Aert, among others, are wearing Suomy this season!

Suomy Gun Wind

Suomy’s top model. Lampre have been wearing this since 2015. They make a striking appearance in the pack. This helmet has a timeless, but modern and complete look, and is incredibly aerodynamic.

The Gunwind race helmet has a polycarbonate outer shell that is attached to the channeled polystyrene inner shell by means of an advanced in-mould process. The result is a light and strong helmet that not only has a perfect fit, but also offers optimal ventilation.

The biaxial system on the rear allows you to fit the helmet perfectly to your head. The hypo-allergenic, antibacterial, and light materials offer plenty of comfort. Everything is well thought-out, proven by the replaceable chin strap, built-in bug net and the delivered rain cover.

Suomy Sfera

The Suomy Sfera looks at first sight almost entirely closed, but that is not the case. The Sfera has been developed in the wind tunnel. This way this helmet offers optimal ventilation, without compromising the aerodynamics. The rear air holes work like exhausts of the warm air.

The safety is excellent. Suomy is originally a motor sport company, which sets even higher standards for helmets. They still managed to keep the weight low.

The biaxial system on the rear allows you to fit the helmet perfectly to your head. The chin strap on this helmet is replaceable as well, and also includes a rain cover and storing bag.

Suomy Timeless

The Suomy Timeless is Suomy’s latest addition to the family, and is promising to become a top choice. The sharp price and the more “standard” design makes this helmet suitable for everybody!

A timeless classic with modern technologies. The Suomy Timeless is comfortable thanks to the 35 ventilation holes and is also aerodynamic. The in-mould technology offers a better fit and more safety.

The biaxial system on the rear of your head allows you to fit the helmet closely to the head. The chin strap is replaceable so you can take it off and clean it.
