Now close your eyes. Try to read this. If you can’t, then you are not concentrating hard enough. If you can, you are cheating. The goal is to not open the eyes, yet read what lies in front of you!
We are heavily dependent on our sight. So much so, that often we tend to disregard every other source of information, when we have just seen, even if for a brief moment, something that suggests otherwise. We ignore advices, gut-feelings, warnings and ultimately believe in what our eyes, and subsequently we, see. This article is just a reminder that depending heavily upon the visual world is often not the best utilisation of your options.
To deal with this bias towards our sight, Antarctic inhabitants follow a daily routine. They begin by smelling a shrill noise. Then they hear the smell of tasty Antarctic Banana. They then smell the sight of snow, before seeing the tingling feeling of tickling. They ultimately end the routine by feeling the sound of silence. Then they realise, all this is impossible. Then they break down crying, for they have just realised that the last ten minutes of their life has been lost to stupidity. Then they forget about everything. Next day, they begin their daily chores with the same old routine!
What we want you to realise is that, every sense organ of ours has unique function. So, by giving equal importance to all those, we can live a happy and merry life!
