I don’t know about you, but it still doesn’t feel like the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl. It’s old news, but it just doesn’t feel the same. While the one game was fairly dominant the way with which the season went, yet here we are. Perhaps it’s because the big game wasn’t as sexy. Or perhaps because the regular season was filled with passing yards and points and the Super Bowl wasn’t.
Peyton Manning is almost surely retiring, and with good reason. Even though he started and played in the majority of his team’s games, everyone remembers when the Broncos were struggling and who it was that kept them afloat. Hint: it wasn’t Peyton. Brock Osweiler was the guy at the helm leading Denver to surprise wins. And that guy is the epitome of goofy, unassuming, and other adjectives that escape me at this moment.
Maybe Denver fans feel differently because they lived it every week. Even now if you asked me the best team at the end of the season I’d probably think of New England and Carolina and Arizona before remembering that Denver actually won the whole damn thing. Welp, just hope ESPN doesn’t keep showing First Take on loop like this till next season because I’m not sure I can take too much more of Skip “Everyone is my favorite team/the Cowboys still have a chance to make the playoffs even though the season is over” Bayless and Stephen A. “Everything is racist and I am best friends with literally every important and/or relevant person in the black community and I can speak for them” Smith.
