Police in Grand Rapids, Michigan, handcuffed an 11 -year-old girl and hampered her at gunpoint after she strolled out of her residence during a search for a piercing suspect.

Honestie Hodges told WOOD-TV she exited the back door of her residence to go to the storage on Dec. 6 when patrolmen confronted her. Her mom, Whitney Hodges, who witnessed the dissension, said police sought Honestie to foster her sides and walk backward. Then officers handcuffed the girl, patted her down and placed her in the back of a prowl car, Hodges said.

“It stimulated “i m feeling” scared and it stimulated me feel like I did something wrong, ” Honestie told the TV station.

“The entire season they are telling her was coming, I’m telling them,’ She’s 11 years old. That’s my daughter. Don’t cuff her, ’” Hodges said of the officers.

Honestie, who is black, said she sat in the back of the cruiser banging on the windows and rumbling to her mommy, “Please don’t make them take me.”

Grand Rapids police, who have begun an internal investigation into their handling of the incident, said police were at the Hodges home searching for the child’s aunt, Carrie Manning, 40, who is white. Manning, who was later detained, was being sought in a domestic thrust a few obstructs apart, and police told me they suspected she was armed with a spear.

“Once onscene, officers is of the view that the accused absconded the palace still forearmed with the spear, Their investigation led to a second Westside Grand Rapids home where it was believed the accused may have fled to. As detectives were setting up a perimeter, three girls simultaneously exited the residence, two adults and one 11 time age-old youth. Until it could be determined that private individuals were not the suspect , nor forearmed with a artillery, the 3 were ordered back to police and detained. The homeowner granted consent to probe the residence, and it was deemed that none of the three characters that departed the dwelling were the suspect detectives were searching for nor was the suspect in their own homes. The females were subsequently released.”

Honestie said she remains shaken.

“I’m afraid to open or disappear near my back door … because of what happened, ” she told WOOD-TV. “I wanted to be a investigator or police officer, but now I don’t want anything to do with those kind of things.”

Police told HuffPost the department can’t comment considerably until the internal investigation is complete.
