There’s Now An Official Uproxx Burger (With Proceeds Going To Charity)

Burgerim

The Uproxx burger is every bit as insane as you would imagine. We went ALL out.

We’re going to start with a bold claim. And that’s that the “Make Your Own Burger” restaurant is the greatest restaurant innovation in recent history. And yeah, we stand by that statement. The customization of being able to pick your own meats and dream toppings elevates “The Make Your Own Burger” experience from going out for a good burger to a transcendent culinary delight. You can go as funky or as simple as you want, and it’s glorious.

Not that we at Uproxx could ever go simple at such a restaurant. Especially not our Facebook Live correspondents, Uproxx’s Social Producer, Frankie Greek, and Life Managing Editor, Steve Bramucci. These two have most recently tried some of the most decadent items in Los Angeles, including $100 avocado toast and a $100 sandwich — so they’re not afraid to get a little fancy with that sh*t. Turning them loose in Burgerim‘s kitchen in Hollywood was sure to be chaos. Especially when they were offered the opportunity to create a special Uproxx Burger to go on their menu for a whole month with part of the proceeds going to charity.

Burgerim is a “Make Your Own Burger” establishment with restaurants scattered about California and a few in Texas and Tennessee (though there are other locations internationally!). But there are dozens that are slated to open soon all over the country. And it’s easy to see why: Not only do they have the customizable burgers that make just about every human happy, they source really fresh, incredible ingredients. You can tell flavor wise when an ingredient is well-sourced and chosen carefully, something that Burgerim takes pride in.

Above all of this, they care about giving back to the community — which is why they invited Uproxx to come by, create our very own Uproxx burger (!!!), and put it on the menu. Uproxx and Burgerim are partnering to support a charity called Kids at the Table. The 501c-3, created by Chef Bryce Fluellen, holds dinner events for underserved, impoverished youth. At these dinners, Chef Bryce not only provides healthy meals for kids, but also works to engage the youth in conversation about nutrition. Giving kids access to healthy eating, and the tools that will empower them to learn about and experience better nutrition, is something we couldn’t be more stoked about.

Which is why we’re excited to report that at all Burgerim locations, from now until July 4th, one dollar from every Uproxx burger will go to support Chef Bryce’s work.

What ended up on the Uproxx burger after mad scientists and amateur chefs, Steve and Frankie, had their way with the kitchen? Well, their creation starts with a dry aged beef patty, then adds Burgerim’s special sauce, lettuce, tomato, and just a hint of onion. And that’s when things start to go crazy. Frankie and Steve added cheddar AND American cheese, fresh jalapeños, bacon, and (to top it all off) a fried egg to the burger. It’s ridiculous and delicious, and we can’t recommend it enough. Not just because buying it will support a good cause (though it will and we will use that to guilt you if we need to), but because this is a tasty burger.

If you have doubts, you should definitely watch the video above of their experience. But be warned, it’s pure food porn, and you’ll need a burger immediately after watching. You might just make out with that burger. So we at Uproxx officially would like to announce that we are not responsible for whatever happens when you fall romantically in love with this burger, and things start to get confusing and weird. We like weird.
