Seth Meyers missed his chance for a “Closer Look” at the Comey situation with his show on Tuesday, taping his show right as the news was breaking. But he made up for it on Wednesday night with a supersized segment that covered the announcement and its absurd aftermath. Probably most interesting, he pinpointed the moment where Trump did his own reenactment of The Godfather Part II that came with its own kiss of death. While Comey doesn’t seem like a Fredo, he was certainly taken out in a manner that made a few people think of the ill-fated brother. Personally, Comey might be more of a Carlo than a Fredo or even a Juice for you Sons Of Anarchy fans. Poor Juice.

All that said, it’s fitting that Trump likely took Comey out because he was getting more Media Attention than the president over the past few months. It’s easy to point to the Russia investigation or the administration’s claims that they’re firing Comey over the Clinton emails, but it’d be far more simple to just look at the moment Meyers singles out. If the reports about President Bannon or Kellyanne Conway are true, media attention plays a big part in the decisions that the president makes.

It is very funny to see members of the media literally run out of breath trying to keep up with this sideshow in Washington. It’s like being locked in a flight that’s nothing but turbulence. You can’t do much about it in the middle of the flight, but there are a few options once you decide to land.
