DoYouRemember? Nostalgia Lives Here
Roku recently announced an interesting Study that could tell why smart TVs and streaming services are canceling out Cable television for good. For those who aren’t aware, Roku is a brand of smart technology, namely the smart TV and other streaming players.
Roku’s study says that 98% of those who have cut the cord on cable TV say they will never go back. 2/3 of cord-cutters say that they wish they had cut the cord sooner. Moreover, 74% of users say a streaming service is more convenient than a traditional pay-TV service.
Roku’s study on cord-cutting and its societal impact
Roku’s study also states that the rate of cord-cutting is greatly increasing this year.
A statement on their study reads, “Overall U.S. market data suggests two million Americans have ‘cut the cord’ so far in 2019, moving from traditional Pay TV (cable or satellite television subscriptions). That’s after 3.5 million people gave up traditional Pay TV video subscriptions in 2018. Consumers who are already streaming include Cord Cutters, TV households that previously had Pay TV; Cord Shavers who may pay for traditional cable but have reduced their package in the last few years; and Cord Nevers, those who have never had Pay TV.”
Streaming devices more reliable than traditional cable?
The study continues on by saying that 89% of cord-cutters think that using a streaming device is very easy. Whether you use Roku, the Amazon Smart TV, or any other kind, it’s safe to say there’s something for everyone. Even if you decide to be a “Cord Shaver” and reduce your traditional cable TV package, you can still enjoy what the streaming services have to offer, too!
In conclusion, 21% of all TV households have now cut the cord with the average age of 47 years old. 45% of those people actually use a Roku Smart TV, so if you’re thinking of buying one, be sure to check them out!
