June Preisser was an unusual dancer.

June was born on June 26, 1918, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Thomas Edward and Victorine Preisser. She was the youngest of six kids. She had four brothers and a sister named, Cheery Blossom. Now, Cherry was a nervous child so her parents sent her to Dancing school at a young age.

The other daughter, Cherry plays a very important part in June’s life. For if Cherry had not been a nervous child, in all likelihood June would never have taken up dancing. Feeling dancing would help Cherry get over her nervousness, Mrs. Preisser had the little girl go to dancing school. Then, a natural result when two sisters are so devoted, June had to take up dancing also. The Portland Press Herald from June 7, 1939
