Lesser known Tranquil Beaches in Goa

Goa is India’s smallest state with a large number of Beaches contributing to its pride of place in the tourism circuits. Both domestic and foreign tourists flock to the North Goa beaches which have almost everything to offer. Great clean beaches lined with shacks, swaying palms, adventurous water-sport activities, flea and night markets, and a pub-food-and-wine culture unique to Goan beaches. Commercialization though means large crowds on the Beach and mimics the humdrum life of the city in a different easy-going environment.

Down South though, there are many silent and secluded beaches on Goa’s coastline which serve to rejuvenate and stir the soul. Let us then explore the less known beaches of South Goa. As with all explorations, one must have the time and flexibility to see and enjoy the new places. A trip to these beaches is best undertaken by road. If you have a car, just jump into it, and head to the beaches with your beach-bags. If not enjoy your trip using a Goa taxi from a reputed aggregator like Savaari.

Savaari has a 98-city presence with a wide variety of cars from hatchbacks, sedans to luxury cars that operate both in the cab segment and car-rental segments. If you wish just rent a car in Goa from them and rest assured you pay-for-what-you-use in a transparent bill and get picked up or dropped wherever you wish. If using a cab remember you can avail the one-way facility and that the drivers are friendly and can help you with your travel-tips and act as a local tour guide.

Goa’s lesser-known beaches:

  • Arambol Beach in North Goa is surrounded by cashew plantations and is quiet, serene and clean. A hot spring and basaltic silt deposits attract you to take a mud-bath or soak your skin in the sulfonated waters. There are numerous fresh-water pools and water-bodies to laze around in with dolphins for company in the early mornings. The nearby cliffs offer paragliding for the adventurous souls.
  • Benaulim Beach in South Goa is a tranquil and sedate fishing beach. Sun-bathing is a popular activity though it does get a tad crowded on weekends and in the evening times. October to May is the best season here, and bull-fighting in matador style is held on the beaches.
  • Cavelossim Beach also in South Goa has an appealing and elegant beach from where you can enjoy the River Sal, the Arabian Sea, the jagged lava rocks, soft white sands and the greenery all around. Authentic Goan cuisine at the shacks and plenty of watering holes makes it a memorable holiday spot. The Dolphins are eager to show-off in the mornings, and water-sport activities like swimming, diving, racing, and speedboats add to your fun.
  • Chapora Beach and its adjoining fishing hamlet is a perfect beach for a quiet weekend getaway. Swaying coconut palms, parrot-green paddy fields, black lava rocks, clear waters, soft sand dunes, beach shacks, and pubs are all there for you to enjoy sans the crowds of the well-known beaches. Flea markets for shopaholics, adventure sports for water-sport lovers, and the nearby Chapora Fort add to make this experience unique.
  • Colva Beach located in South Goa is among the oldest beaches of Goa. This beach has a vibrating nightlife and is for those who love their rave-parties, good food, music and Feni for the company.
  • Majorda Beach is also a very popular, clean, tranquil beach with not much of a crowd. Nature’s bounty coupled with a large variety of beach stalls, shacks, lifeguards and water-sporting facilities ensures you have a private unhindered beach holiday.

Explore the other lesser known beaches like the Mandrem Beach, Mobor Beach, Sinquerim Beach, and the Varca Beach also. After all, Goa is the land of beaches, and you would appreciate the peace and quiet of a lesser-known and lesser-crowded beach.
