Home renovation projects and backyard BBQ’s are always fun ideas for summer.  But there is nothing quite like packing up the family for a good ole fashioned road trip. brings you 10 sights you just have to see this summer!

10.  Cadillac Ranch, Potter County Texas

Founded in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez, and Doug Michels, Cadillac Ranch is a public art structure  in Amarillo Texas.  Originally created with hopes of showcasing the evolution of change in the car line, visitors can find Cadillac’s from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s here!  What a neat place to spend an afternoon in Texas.

9.  Noccalula Falls Gadsden Alabama

This spot has several things to offer:  an abandoned dam, pioneer homestead, Civil War carvings, an aboriginal fort, caves, oh and did we mention the 90 feet tall waterfall??! No need for additional explanation of why this southern spot is a must see!

8.  The Wave Coyote Buttes Arizona

When you think of Arizona, I’m sure the first place that comes to mind to visit is the Grand Canyon… but Arizona has another hidden gem that is a shoe-in for Summer travel destinations:  the Wave in Coyotes Buttes.  The amazing sandstone rock formation over the slopes of the Coyotes Buttes makes for a breathtaking view.

7.  Florida’s Everglades

The largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the United States is a definite sight to check out when in the panhandle state.  It’s the only place in the world where crocodiles and alligators co-exist side by side.  Take a tour, just not a swim.

6.  Assateague Island Maryland Coast

Located right off the coast of Maryland and Virginia, this shoreline is home to marshes, bays and coves.  But most significantly, it is most prominently known for the more than 300 wild ponies that roam the shore.

5.  Boundary Waters Canoe Northeastern Minnesota

You could spend days out here.  Camping, fishing, canoeing, camping, swimming… we could go on and on.  With over 1,000 lakes and streams, over 2,000 camping sites, and 1,500 of canoe routes, family fun is endless in the Superior National Forest.

4.  Carlsbad Caverns Guadalupe Mountains New Mexico

We’ve never seen something quite like this before.   A large cave chamber, otherwise known as the Big Room,  a nearly 4,000 feet tall chamber of natural Limestone, is the 5th largest in the U.S..

3.  Shadow of the Bear Highway 64 Cashiers North Carolina

This site is one you will need to plan your summer trip to see.  It is actually more of a phenomenon than an everyday location.   The shadow appears for 3o minutes at 5:30 p.m. EST sometime between mid-October through early November.  Starting as just a small black shadow over the valley and evolving into a bear!  How cool is that?

2.  Crater’s Lake Oregon

Dive right in to the deepest lake in America, Crater’s lake.  One of the most sought after gems in the state of Oregon, this deep blue water is circled with 20 miles of cliffs and hemlocks.  1,934 feet in depth, 1,934 reasons to visit!

1.  Monument Valley Arizona-Utah State Line

Last but most certainly not least, is a site that speaks for itself.  Located on the Colorado Plateua, Monument Valley is a breathtaking cluster of sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 feet above the valley.  Enjoy this view from afar or up close.  Monument Valley has been the focal point of a heap of western movies for decades, so channel your inner cowboys and indians and mark this spot as a destination on your map!

So once the renovations are done and the grill is turned off, pack up the family and head out on an adventure.  And from all of us here at have a safe and happy Summer!
