Pickett = A Little Leafy Lock Picker

J.K. Rowling and Eddie Redmayne with Pickett

J. K. Rowling posted this photo of herself and Eddie Redmayne (with Pickett in his pocket) on social media. It was snapped at the premier of the movie based on her book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Rowling was the screenwriter for the flick, now playing in theaters across the country.

The British author published her book about magical creatures from the world of Harry Potter, in  2001, under the pen-name Newt Scamander.

Newt, a magizoologist played by Redmayne, is a key character in the fantasy, who is especially fond of Pickett. Pickett is a Bowtruckle, a little green guy composed of twigs and leaves, who  gets carried around in Newt’s top pocket.

And, Pickett picks locks!

Wow. When have we ever seen a creature, imaginary or not, with lock picking skills, in such a prominent, critically acclaimed movie? This is a huge shout-out to the fine art of locksmithing.

Pickett’s lock penchant endeared the flexible fantastic beast to Jessica Martin, our Service Department Coordinator, who enthusiastically recommends this movie.

BTW, Redmayne previously starred in Les Miserables, The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl, and several other movies.
