|All jazzed up with tassels|
I picked up this rather boring looking Basket last year in Nicaragua. I liked the shape and size of it but I just wasn't totally sold on the side embellishments that someone had done with a color marker.
|The "before" basket|
For the longest time I couldn't figure out what to do with until the other day when I was reading a design blog and someone had done exactly this. So I thought to myself - let me just steal that idea.
Originally my thinking was that I would go to a sewing supply store and get myself some string or ribbon with Tassels and just snip them off. Well, turns out that "strings of tassels" were not to be found anywhere. So in three hours of tassel-making got me about 30 or so tiny little, trendy looking tassels. (apparently tassels are really hot this fall so my basket should feel in style)
The idea was to spray-paint basket an aubergine color - like a blackish purple. No such spray-paint. So I got plum. And didn't like it. So I painted purple over it. And didn't like it. So I mixed dark blue and black. And didn't like it. So I sat down and cursed and then painted the whole thing black. And there. My new aubergine, tassel-embellished basket. YAY!
