Leesa Legend vs. Tempur-Adapt Comparison: Reviews & Best Deals

Leesa Legend is a luxury dual-coil hybrid mattress. It uses a combination of pocket coils, micro-coils, and memory foam to provide a plush yet supportive sleeping experience.

The TEMPUR-Adapt® Series consists of the cheapest mattresses sold by Tempur-Pedic. This is the original medium memory foam mattress and a new hybrid version.

What's In This Comparison?

In this comparison, we compare the Leesa Legend mattress to Tempur-Pedic's Tempur-Adapt mattresses.

This comparison is for anyone looking for a premium luxury mattress. Both Leesa Legend and Tempur-Adapt are pricey than bed-in-a-box mattresses, but they offer a better sleeping experience and longer-lasting mattresses.

If you are looking for a cheaper hybrid mattress, we recommend Leesa Hybrid.

Leesa Legend vs. Tempur-Adapt Verdict – Which One Should you Buy?

I gave Leesa Legend an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5.0

BUY LEESA LEGEND IF:

  • You want a luxury pocket coil hybrid mattress.
  • You want a mattress that feels plush yet springy and supportive.
  • You are a hot sleeper or live in a hot region.
  • You want a mattress with free returns.

I gave Tempur-Adapt an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5.0

BUY TEMPUR-ADAPT IF:

  • You are looking for a luxury memory foam mattress.
  • You want a hybrid mattress with the body-hugging feel of memory foam.
  • You are a hot sleeper (get the Tempur-Adapt hybrid).

Key Differences

  • Leesa Legend is available in just one comfort and construction option, while Tempur-Adapt offers two options: an all-foam and a hybrid mattress.
  • Leesa Legend has a unique dual-coil design that improves responsiveness, support, and body contouring. The Tempur-Adapt hybrid has one pocket coil layer, similar to most hybrid mattresses.
  • Price-wise, Leesa Legend is cheaper than Tempur-Adapt but not by much.
  • Similar to most online mattresses, Leesa Legend comes with a 100-night trial with free returns. The Tempur-Adapt mattress, on the other hand, comes with a shorter 90-night trial and charges for returns.

Mattress Construction Comparison

Leesa Legend Construction

  • Leesa Legend is 12″ thick and has six layers of foam and coils.
  • Leesa Legend has better quality and more luxurious cover than Tempur-Adapt. The Leesa Legend cover is made from organic cotton, Merino wool, fiber from recycled water bottles, rayon, and spandex. This combo makes it soft, breathable, durable, and stretchy.
  • Below the cover is a layer of perforated foam that increases airflow on the surface of the mattress to keep you cool.
  • Next is a layer of memory foam that relieves pressure under your shoulders, back, and hips. This layer gives the Legend mattress a pleasantly plush feel.
  • Below the memory foam is the first layer of coils. It consists of micro coils but only on the upper and lower sections of the bed with foam in the middle. This provides targeted support and pressure relief to different areas of your body.
  • Next is the mattress base, consisting of 6″ pocket coils with a 1″ layer of support foam above and below it.

Tempur-Adapt Construction

  • Tempur-Adapt is available in an all-foam and a hybrid configuration. Both are 11″ tall.
  • The only difference between the all-foam and hybrid versions is the addition of a pocket coil base in the hybrid mattress.
  • The Tempur-Adapt mattresses start with a cool-to-the-touch cover made from polyester. Antimicrobial treatment is applied to the cover to keep out allergens such as dust mites.
  • Next is a layer of TEMPUR-ES® memory foam. It is ultra-soft, providing quick pressure relief under your pressure points (shoulders, hips, and back). It closely hugs your body to provide all-round comfort in different sleeping positions.
  • A polyfoam support layer is the base of the all-foam mattress while in the hybrid Tempur-Adapt, it is the transition layer.
  • The base of the hybrid Tempur-Adapt consists of premium spring coils that provide deep compression support, edge support, and responsiveness.

Comfort and Firmness Comparison

Tempur-Adapt is the softer mattress, though the medium-firm Leesa Legend does offer a nice plush feel as well.

Leesa Legend Comfort and Firmness

  • Leesa Legend is a medium-firm mattress. It combines the soft and springy feel of memory foam and micro coils with firmer support from the pocket coils. It is plush without bottoming out.
  • Note that different weight groups might experience firmness slightly differently. For lighter than average sleepers (under 130lbs), it'll feel a bit firmer. For heavier sleepers (over 220lbs), it may feel softer.

Tempur-Adapt Comfort and Firmness

  • Both Tempur-Adapt mattresses are medium comfort. The TEMPUR-ES® memory foam used in each mattress gives them a softer feel. The Tempur-Adapt will hug your body more closely, and you'll experience deeper sinkage, especially on the all-foam version.
  • If you want more support, get the Tempur-Adapt medium hybrid mattress. It has the plushness of the all-foam mattress but with added support. It may even feel slightly firmer if you have a bigger body.

Sleeping Experience Comparison

While Tempur-Pedic is well-known for its luxury mattress, the Leesa Legend gives the Tempur-Adapt series a run for its money.

Leesa Legend Sleeping Experience

  • The micro-coil layer makes a big difference in how the Leesa Legend mattress feels. Together with the foam layers, the micro-coils provide targeted pressure relief, great lumbar support, and a gentle bounciness.
  • The thick pocket coil base provides deep compression support (especially for heavier folks) and extra responsiveness. It also ensures adequate edge support, so you don't feel like rolling off when you sleep near the edge of the bed.
  • Leesa Legend has minimal motion transfer. But if your partner turns and tosses a lot or if they are heavier, you might feel some of their movements. It's the downside of having two coil layers.
  • As for cooling, the Leesa Legend mattress is a great choice for hot sleepers and those who live in warm climates.

Tempur-Adapt Sleeping Experience

  • Tempur-Pedic is famous for its luxury memory foam mattresses. The Tempur-Adapt mattresses are no different. The soft TEMPUR-ES memory foam provides a plush feel that relieves pressure in all the right places.
  • The all-foam Tempur-Adapt has slightly more give and feels a bit softer. It is a good choice for side sleepers.
  • The hybrid Tempur-Adapt has less give, a slightly firmer feel, and more responsiveness. It is a good choice for heavier folks, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers.
  • Both Tempur-Adapt mattresses sleep cool, but the hybrid version is the coolest (the coils provide better ventilation).

Here's our bottom line as far as sleeping experience goes.

Do you love the soft and close hug of memory foam? Choose Tempur-Adapt. And if you need extra support, get the Hybrid Tempur-Adapt.

Do you prefer a bouncier mattress, but with some of the plushness of memory foam? Get Leesa Legend.

As for cooling, Leesa Legend is a better choice. It has a thinner memory foam layer, a more breathable cover (contains cotton and wool instead of just polyester), and two ventilation-boosting coil layers.

Price Comparison

Both Leesa Legend and Tempur-Adapt cost more than your average bed-in-a-box mattress. But they are still cheaper than most luxury mattresses you'll find in stores (including other Tempur-Pedic mattresses).

Summary

The choice between Leesa Legend and Tempur-Adapt comes down mostly to the kind of feel you prefer in your mattress.

If you've always loved the soft and plush feel of memory foam, Tempur-Pedic is the king of memory foam mattresses. Go with Tempur-Adapt.

If you prefer a springier mattress, but with a luxury plush feel (and a slightly lower price tag), we recommend Leesa Legend.
