Manic Monday

Well today is the new week of exciting potential bizarre realities that will start off with the RNC and the motley crew of speakers who if we are lucky will spout conspiracy theories, false Covid cures and  of course fealty to the Crazy Dopey Grandpa.   Of course he will have to do without one of his many enablers, Kellyanne Conway, who is resigning following her 15 year old daughter tweeting that she was seeking independence from her fucked up family. While I find George Conway highly entertaining, I question his adamant public airing of the family dirty laundry in the press on a daily basis.  Their marriage is either on the rocks or is in some type of bizarre sex game that eventually wears thin when America weighs in daily and can take a toll on teens who are trying to figure out their own shit.  Add Covid and it doesn't get any better.

That the state of children that are hauled out as an excuse, justification and of course reasoning behind all decisions, political or personal, is something I am well familiar. It is the histrionics behind opening the schools, the hypocrisy that the Conaway's, the Trumps and others in their circle will no more be sending their progeny to a school (lets not pretend or bother to mention the word public here) is hilarious. They have both access and availability to hire Nanny's and Tutors to do the heavy lifting in the best of times, if not they have the checkbook to hire someone to take tests, rig the system to do what it takes to get their little precious snowflake admitted to the best education has to offer. Ask Aunt Becky about that one.  She sure was no Aunt Bea, of either Warren or Griffin fame.

Child poverty is a pandemic in this country and living in Nashville that woke me alright.  I have never actually experienced how that truly damages the soul until I walked into their dumpsters. Poverty in the North was always well covered and smothered with fake proclamations, t-shirts, bracelets and other public perceptions that activism was spelled with a capital A to prove they cared. They did but the reality was there sitting in the schools daily and everyone in Seattle just faked it until they made it out.   For what it is worth the road is littered with well intentioned white people who seem to think they have the answers and that is largely the tech sect who made their fortune and now want to give back. No they just are equally as racist and patronizing with it.  And for the record FDR was not the reason for the Great Society, Eleanor was.

The New York Times had an excellent op-ed piece, The Coronavirus Generation, in the paper yesterday to discuss how few of the Democratic candidates had child welfare in their platforms.  Wow I checked and as Elizabeth Warren who had a plan for everything seemingly passed that one by.  There are some crossovers, Andrew Yang's Universal Basic Income plan comes close, and there are educational ones that do address some of the problems children of poverty face but it is more about the social safety net with regards to food and medical care.  I cannot stress enough the issue of affordable housing is the most significant safety net that right now in California as fires rage and in New Orleans another place where natural disasters seem as common as a jazz riff, for not one but two hurricanes are bearing down on the region that has never fully recovered from Katrina.  The irony is that while many are living on the edge there are are over 37,000 residences available, but the access to them is due to costs, once again showing how that those two factors are siamese twins in regards to income inequity in America.  And child care and housing are again co-joined at the hip with regards to success and in turn would resolve some of the constant drumbeat about schools and segregation. But hey white liberals are the reasons for much of this. Again Seattle, own your evil on that one.   Nashville's was intentional and they too have a book on the subject, but they again don't pretend anything is different there as education is considered superfluous.

And that brings me to Seattle's biggest asshole, Bill Gates. What can I say about him that I have not in many blog posts? Well nothing but others are beginning to see how the message and the messenger are co-dependent upon one another the same way poor folks in the South are upon the assholes that run the state.  It's desperation and survival and the press can no longer rely upon just the average folk to fund them so they get their news the old fashioned way, from a  public release form or a study that is bought and paid for by the benefactor. As the saying goes, follow the money.  This article in the Columbia Journalism Review shows how Bill Gates strong arms the Government and others to buy his bullshit.  What I love is the note that he has no medical or science background yet was cited as an expert with regards to Covid.  Yes we heard this before, Common Core anyone. Never set foot in a public school, was never a Teacher, never had any ed background but he knows more than all of us as well all rich white assholes do.  Yep the podcast, Hate Male is coming folks it is time.

We don't read in America, we preach.  God we do and we lecture, scold, reprimand and then lather rinse repeat the talking points that our identified tribe has posted on the varying social media sites that pass as real news and information.  Its easier to quote someone who told you something or you read it somewhere that you have determined aligns with your thought process so you quote it failing to cite the source or even validate its legitimacy. Let's see, who does that? Mmm I can think of one.

I spend the better part of this pandemic trying to avoid people and venture onto social media to berate people as well I need an outlet.  I can only do so much yoga, barre and baking.  The few times I do venture into the great outdoors with others, I am bored very quickly. As I am already bored out of my mind I find that venturing on my own is way more fulfilling and pleasurable as I have no restrictions or limitations on what to do or see.  I have come to the conclusion that I do beat my own drum and I beat it loud and proud.  This was long necessary and in turn a survival technique.  Once I learned first hand in 2012 how the institutions and individuals within them you assume are there to aid and support you do not and have their own agenda it was game on.  I played them and I did the same in Nashville on my way out. Games are for children and frankly I am too old to do so.

I read this essay in the Times yesterday and I feel it explains the sudden uptick in violence, it certainly explained the protests and the ongoing drama that changes from day to day about what sleight or incident that leads to the endless cancel culture bullshit that fits a narrative that is truly black and white.  I think of the Chris Rock video on how not to get your ass beat by a Cop, or the story of the young Black man who in Seattle drove on the road in the wrong direction killing a protester or the endless violence by white people in Portland over black lives that I am sure have rarely passed them in their minds let alone lives.   I wonder where the outrage is.  And meanwhile no kickback to Enterprise to boycott them for renting cars to federal agents to abscond with said protestors while hysterically demanding one of Goodyear Tire over clearly a faked pic but sure good enough. We don't have to know its true we just have to believe it is.

So you are bored. Try finding a podcast, a book on a subject you know nothing about. Take up a craft and ask yourself if you really need to sit at this screen and have it bring to you all what you need to know.   Its how I got involved in true crime podcasts, prompted by the HBO show, I'll Be Gone in the Dark.  From that I have learned about the Dating Game Killer, the Wonderland Murders, and other serial killers and crimes, and in turn found other justice themed sites, such as In the Dark, which discusses a murder and trial that made it to the current Supreme Court.   Again, curiosity may have killed the cat and I still have 8 lives left thanks to Harborview' Hospital failure to let me die.  They did not aid in my living they simply failed to finish the job. So when you applaud medical people do they really need that, I mean its their job supposedly.  But yet abusing Teachers as I have seen on Facebook seems fine. Good to know.  Pick your fights kid and pick them all the time. It is only Monday you have a long week ahead.  I have the Podcast, Richard III, from WNYC they did on air and I loved it so I want to savor it, like the wine and food I plan on having later.  At least in pandemic times I will eat well. Something to at least complain about later.
