So offer things that are less gooey and more crumbly, because it will be easy to vacuum up later. Also, be sure to only offer clear beverages: lemon-lime sodas, water, etc. That way if it spills, it will not stain the carpet.

WARNING: Do not offer anything with nuts or peanut butter as this is a common allergy that can be fatal to some people. If you do have anything with nuts be sure to have a warning label put on it. This can also be applied to gluten. Though it is not fatal in most instances, put an allergy warning on them as well.

2) Clean and Prepare Everything An open house means that your house is open to the public so people will be poking their heads into every cupboard, closet, bedroom, and drawer—make sure your whole house is ready and empty of valuables. It is important to make sure that all your valuables are not on the premises so that it will be less likely to be stolen. Get them off site if you can. Computer towers and TVs are big enough that they shouldn’t be a problem. Especially if you have someone stationed at the door to give handouts and watch for stolen items

You should also make sure that every room and closet and cupboard are presentable. This means a lot of deep cleaning which can be a pain, but can also help to sell your house that much faster. There are many professional cleaners that you can higher if the need arises.

Advertising can be a double edged sword. Advertising can help to bring people into your home, but it can also cost you time and money if not done properly. For instance, one advertising idea is to post an ad in the newspaper. This can be super effective, but could also cost a lot.
