What’s Behind Rejection of Vaccines? Part 2

In my last post, I addressed some misconceptions about supposedly “necessary” foundations for vaccine refusal.  In this post, I’m going to build on that by discussing what reasons do form the bulk of my concern.  The first few are the most important; after that they aren’t in any particular order, and those lower down the list are more “supportive” of our choice than “causative.”

I’m going to try to be thorough in listing my reasons/concerns, but brief in describing them, since I’m writing a blog post here, not a book.  My goal with this post is not to argue any of these points, but to clarify what reasoning does and doesn’t drive my choices.

#1: I believe in honoring God’s design.

God designed the human immune system.  I believe He knew what He was doing.  Routine and/or repeated vaccination, especially in young children, skews the immune system, subverting God’s design.

I find it presumptuous and arrogant to think we know better than He how the immune system should work, or to pretend we understand more than we do about the complexities of the immune system and assume we can’t possibly be causing any yet-unseen problems by tampering with it.

(Before someone decides to be a smart aleck and presume I “must reject medicine, too,” let me point out that these are not logically equal.  Medicines are used to treat those who are already sick — that is, where things are already “broken” in terms of God’s design.  Vaccines are administered to healthy people, disrupting their normal functions.  I think it’s safe to assume that most people understand the distinction between removing a woman’s uterus because she has uterine cancer and removing everyone’s uterus as a preventative because some people get uterine cancer.  Treatment and prevention are entirely different scenarios.)

#2: I don’t consider vaccine-targeted illnesses as scary as the establishment wants us to think they are.

Although there are some exceptions (remember, “vaccines”  are not homogenous; neither are the illnesses they target), in general the illnesses targeted by routine vaccinations are not especially dangerous for most school-age children in developed countries.  We have good sanitation, access to healthcare, antibiotics for treating bacterial infections, etc.

Are there some risks?  Sure.  But compared to other risks we accept on a routine basis (traffic accidents, for instance), they aren’t excessive.  Some Risk is simply part of life.

#3: I’m willing and able to think beyond vaccines.

A close counterpart to #2 is that vaccines aren’t the only means of mitigating risks of illness.  Our culture tends to talk like either we vaccinate everything away or we just do nothing, but that’s a false dichotomy.  There are many options for building health and strengthening our immune systems in order to prevent illness (or cause it to be milder) in the first place, and/or to help our bodies fight it when we do get sick.

I don’t think the single-minded devotion to vaccines as the be-all, end-all has served us well.

#4: Vaccine-derived immunity is inferior.

In many cases, vaccines create a narrower, more unidimensional immune response than a natural illness does.  Regardless of what kind of immunity they do create, this immunity wanes — in many cases much sooner than was previously believed.

This also indirectly causes other issues…

#5: Mass vaccination is bad for public health.

I know, this is the exact opposite of mainstream thinking, but I believe it’s true. There are several parts to this.

A) Vaccination as we know it shifts the susceptible population to those at higher risk.  Because vaccine coverage wanes over time, because vaccine-derived immunity is not effectively passed down to nursing babies, and because mass vaccination decreases the exposure of older adults to natural “boosters” from children and grandchildren experiencing routine childhood illnesses, the most susceptible population is no longer school-age children who rarely experience serious complications.

Instead, young babies are at risk because their mothers no longer have passive immunity to offer them via breastfeeding.  Elderly adults are at risk because the community no longer has herd immunity.  Young adult males are at increased risk of mumps when it’s more likely to result in testicular problems and young adult women are at increased risk of rubella when it can cause problems with their unborn babies.

B) Because vaccine coverage wanes over time, mass vaccination creates a loss of herd immunity, which results in an ever-increasing dependence on an ever-increasing number of boosters.

(Contrary to popular perception, herd immunity is not something that was created by vaccines.  It’s a natural phenomenon which the establishment sought to imitate with vaccines.  Unfortunately, man’s substitutes are always a poor replacement for God’s design in nature, so what scientists thought would last forever…didn’t.)

I also think both mass vaccination and vaccine research increase the risk of creating new pathogens and/or increasing the rate of viral drift & shift.

#6: Foreign tissues are…foreign.

Vaccines rely on growth in animal tissues — either of the “other” variety like monkeys and pigs, or tissues from other humans, by way of murdered unborn babies.  (Many of these are also biblically “unclean” animals.)  There are both known and unknown risks of culturing things in foreign tissues like this and then injecting them into our bodies.

While theoretically, these are “purified” out of the vaccines prior to sale, the reality is it’s impossible to ensure absolute purity, and we have evidence that foreign viruses have been introduced to humanity this way.  We don’t know if other viruses might have been that we don’t know about yet, if these “other” tissues can lead to cancer, if they can be accidentally integrated into our genome and cause genetic polymorphisms, etc.

There’s also good reason to suspect that these may have the potential to lead to allergies and/or autoimmunity (especially in the presence of adjuvants).

#7: The ingredients are toxic.

Cell cultures & active viruses/bacteria/etc. aside, these products are full of toxic ingredients.  I don’t think it’s wise to inject healthy bodies with things like monosodium glutamate, dyes, aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde, and polysorbate 80.

#8: The manufacturers are untrustworthy.

Most of the companies that make vaccines have an established history of fraud and corruption.  There are allegations from credible sources (i.e. those who worked for them and are implicating themselves) that efficacy and safety data was falsified.  The allegations have not been legally proven because they’ve been tied up in court for many years, but suffice it to say the credibility of these companies as sources for claiming their products are safe and effective is questionable.

#9: The manufacturers have no meaningful accountability.

Not only is the credibility of the manufacturers in question; there’s little accountability to keep them in check.  The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 removed virtually all liability from vaccine manufacturers, so the kinds of fraud cases we’ve seen prosecuted for drugs these companies have made are almost impossible to bring against the same manufacturers for vaccines, even if the circumstances were otherwise identical.

Moreover, the regulatory agencies are largely staffed by a revolving door of individuals who have worked for vaccine manufacturers before or aim to in the future, and the advertising dollars provided by these companies provide a strong motivation for both mainstream media and scientific journals to publish material that will be favorable to their interests.
