I was a resident at Craigmont Manor in Craigsville VA managed by Mark Dana Management for 18 Months. I am a disabled veteran and have a service dog named Bella. Bella has a 3 year service dog license issued by the county of Augusta and is professionally managed by my medical care team. Around mid July I found out that I had a ruptured appendix and that it had led to gangrene as well as sepsis. While being treated in the hospital Bella stayed at the clinic where I receive treatment. When I came home from the hospital the clinic brought Bella back to me the next day. Well the sepsis had not been cleared up right away and due to some complications my tele-health nurse wanted me to get to the emergency room right away. To say the least Bella was a little more than anxious after everything that had happened. I called my clinic and they informed me that no one would be able to come out and pick her up until the morning and I felt like Bella would feel more at home in the apartment until I was checked out than she would if she had to stay at the animal shelter should I have to go inpatient. Well I made it back from the hospital that night and when I opened the door to the apartment I could hear Bella trying to make her way to me. I ran to my bedroom door and Bella greeted me with a start. Well I kinda noticed that she had pulled back the corner of the Carpet next to the opening of the door. Well I figured I would do a quick damage assesment and realized that the little corner she pulled back was part of a carpet patch that had been replaced to what would appear several times before. I guess it must have been a few days later we had an apartment inspection and due to my health the staff from the clinic had to come clean the apartment. My days leading up to the inspection were spent going in and out of cognitive awareness and cold sweats. Well the landlord came in for the inspection and said oh no looks like the whole carpet is going to have to be replaced and you are going to have to pay. Robert this is really going to come back on you. Well I figured I would get by the best I could until I could find out what it would cost. Well the clinic offered to get a carpet remnant and repair the carpet on my behalf for the landlord but that was not acceptable and the landlord refused to produce a bill. The landlord estiimated to me that replacing the carpet could be in the range of $1200 and they could arrange for me to pay that over a period of 6 months along with my regurlar rent. For all intensive purposes I did pull up and keep the carpet patch made from a remnant without causing any further damage to the carpet and made well sure I took plenty of photos of the apartment. Well after 3 months had passed it was time for a new inspection. 3 days before the inspection I got a call from the office manager and she said Robert are you home today. I responded yes ma’am I am. She said there was a couple of guys coming from the management office to look at the carpet today and they were on their way. I asked her if there would be a bill associated with this visit and she informed me that was up to them. I waited for around an hour or so and sure enough here at the door was the maintainenance man with 2 people that were wearing shirts that said Mark Dana Management. I welcomed them in. I yelled ahead to the mainainenance man and let him know that the shower bar had broken from my weight the night before and would need to be replaced so he and the men went into the bathroom and documented that. The 2 men walked over to where the carpet square was and kinda kicked it a little and said huh looks like were going to have to replace this entire carpet. I asked the man at that point if there was going to be a bill associated with this and he said oh and your going to have to pay. I said sir if thats the case I have retained a real estate specialist and I had and then I continued to tell him he had 24 hours to produce the bill for these damages. Well I guess it must have been about 5 or 6 days later I was served a legal notice that if I did not pay for the damages to the carpet and bathtub that I would be held legally responsible and my dog would be removed. The same day I was given a letter that said if I left during the 21 days the whole thing would just be forgotten or if I stayed I would be held financially responsible as well as my dog would be removed. I have attached to this the documentation I was provided along with a short video about myself to help introduce you to me. My family has ties to Craigsville. My dad faithfully served in the United States Navy and was a Shipmate of Gene Thompson of Craigsville VA aboard The USS Rankin. I am also a former land owner in the town of Craigsville and bought my land off of the Mayor Richard Fox’s Family Estate.

In addition to becoming homeless with my service dog Bella while suffering from a life threatening medical condition I was obligated to turn over to the owners of the apartment by use of force $12000 in business inventory for which I was legally obligated to pay 10% of the proceeds. This was my marketing and operations budget for online ventures
