Man Charged With Reckless Driving For Converting Truck Into Pool

A pickup Truck owner in the Sharon region of Israel is set to appear in court after he converted the back of his vehicle into a swimming Pool and drove around while four children splashed and played in the water.

According to reports by the news sources, the police pulled over the vehicle owner near Kadima over the weekend. The driver was issued a citation and will face charges of Reckless Driving.

The impromptu pool appeared to be the driver’s response to a sizzling heatwave that hit Israel, the first significant one of the year, which brought scorching temperatures of 37°C (98.6°F) to the Sharon area.

Photographs of the vehicle show the children wearing swimsuits and enjoying themselves inside the trunk, which the owner had lined with plastic sheeting and filled with hundreds of liters of water.

To secure the pool, the owner used an orange pressure strap to fasten the edges of the plastic sheeting to the outer side of the trunk.

In a video released by the police, the truck can be seen driving on a dirt path near agricultural areas.

Reports from the Tzomet-KFS news site indicate that the driver even took the car onto Route 553 in the Sharon region, navigating traffic with the children happily splashing around in the makeshift pool.

In recent years, people have been participating in a viral trend where drivers convert their trucks into swimming pools, creating videos that quickly gain popularity on social media. Sources say the trend may have influenced the driver. However, it is essential to highlight that most safety experts strongly advise against this practice, as it poses several risks and dangers.

This viral trend may actually get you in hot water with the cops and cause damage to your vehicle.

DualLiner, a pickup bedliner company, recognized the prevalence of truck bed swimming pools and decided to address the issue. They created an informative infographic, originally shared by TruckYeah!, to educate individuals who may be tempted to cool off using this method about the potential damages they could cause to their pickups.

The infographic explains that water is considerably dense, making it much heavier per square foot compared to the construction materials truck beds are typically utilized for. When a truck bed is filled with water and people are added to the equation, the total weight often exceeds the maximum payload capacity of the pickup. This can have disastrous consequences for the vehicle’s structural integrity and safety.

To provide a practical example, the video here demonstrates where one driver’s tailgate became stretched due to the weight of the water-filled pool causing significant repair work to fix.
