Neutral Paint Color Ideas For Every Room In The House

While there are some instances when it’s good to go bold, often times it’s a better idea to keep things simple. If you’re looking to create a sense of calm in your home, you can’t go wrong with choosing Neutral options.

Whether its amateur home decorators or interior designers santa barbara, everyone knows a good neutral color palette lets you explore the architectural space to the max. Here are some ways neutrals can enhance every room in your home.

What Is a Neutral?

A neutral is simply a shade that doesn’t overpower any other hue and acts as an anchor for other colorful accents around the room. Many common options include white, beige and grey. Remember, some of the best neutral paint colors have undertones of blue, green, pink and even purple.

Living Room

Color options for this area greatly depend on the decorating style you’re looking to adopt. Minimalist designs are best supported by white or off-white colors to showcase the stark nature of the style. For a warmer feel, look to yellow and beige to emulate a sunny afternoon.

Bathroom

Natural lighting is often lost in the bathroom, making it a difficult space to work with. Keep the walls very bright to enhance what little light is available while creating a clean look at the same time.

If you’re feeling adventurous, it’s a good idea to look up for more ideas. While plain white ceilings are generally the norm, adding a splash of color, like a grey/blue tint, will help recreate a natural light effect as well as make your bathroom feel much more open than it really is!

Bedroom

If there’s one place in your house you want to feel comfortable, it’s the bedroom. Blues often have a great calming effect, so you can’t go wrong with grey/blue hues. Your boudoir can also be a great space for experimentation, so choosing corals and purples are an excellent way to inject a fun flavor as well!

Vestibule

You only get one chance to make a great first impression, and that goes for your home as well. When looking into entryway design, don’t forget to incorporate the overall theme of your home into the color scheme as well.

Because it is usually in close proximity to the living room, the vestibule should compliment colors used in that space. By going with a neutral that is found elsewhere in the home, however, you can bring the entire living space together as one cohesive unit.

Kitchen/Dining Room

Often these two rooms go together as one space and making the dining area an extension of the kitchen is a good idea to work with that inherent connection. Using classic white on cabinetry and trim keeps things looking open and fresh, and with colorful hues of purple or green, they’ll really stand out and make for a welcoming atmosphere.

When planning out the color scheme of your home, look to local interior designers in Santa Monica or elsewhere for additional help in getting the right look and feel. Don’t be afraid to experiment with a variety of neutral tones. You might find color and accent combinations you’d never think you’d love!
