Snow on the mountains

A few years ago, it snowed in December. This is our main drag - isn't it pretty?

We did get a nice dusting of Snow on Shasta Bally.

Shasta Bally is a mountain in the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National recreation area at 6199 ft - so not that tall in elevation but enough to get some snow on it.

So now we have snow capped mountains and it looks spectacular. The ski resort, is hoping to open before Christmas! That is good for the economy, for skiers and for JOBS.

My fake flowers I got at Dollar Tree.  I'm really liking them.

I love this little plaque.

I bought this at the 99 cent Store, 10 years ago, when everything was .99 cents.

Those days are gone now. When I lived in San Mateo, there was a store called the .89 cent store. I still have some really nice things from there.

The Salvation Army, Goodwill and St Vincent de Paul are very expensive now due to the wages they have to pay out - and soon fast food will be more expensive - with the $22 an hour wages for fast food workers in California. I'm just saying - if a senior wanted a part time job, now is the time. In fact, it's the seniors who are benefiting from these higher minimum wage jobs. More power to them! The younger workers just don't want to work around here. I don't get it.

Today I dropped off four boxes of canned food, beans, pasta, etc to the Good New Rescue. I always buy extra to give and once a month we take at least 2 boxes. Friends and neighbors know we do this and they drop off canned goods to us. It was too much to wait till the Stuff the Bus event comes.

Tonight is the Marine Corp Ball - we decided not to go this year due to the cost. Plus I'd have to buy a dress and I used that as my excuse. Usually my husband gives the Coast Guard toast to the Marines since there are so few of them around here. I'm not big on these parties. Too many people - the food is not good. I do enjoy the speakers and the music. My husband did buy a handful of raffle tickets though.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day - We'll do what we always do - go up to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery for their event. I always enjoy it.

We have to plan to go down to Beale AFB so I can renew my military dependent ID. It expires in January. I'd rather go down there before Thanksgiving. It's a two hour drive, south of us. I wouldn't mind hitting up the IKEA store in Sacramento but I just don't like all that traffic and congestion. We'll see.
