Cold Rain and Snow

Mount Shasta Ski Resort

I love it except that I am freezing cold. I've not felt it this cold in November.

45 degrees as a high today.

 Brrrrr.

It's quite the "happening" around here.

Just 10 miles from me, at Fawndale, the chain requirements are causing a huge traffic jam of mostly big rigs wanting to get up and over the Siskiyous pass toward the Oregon border. It doesn't look like they'll make it.

They'll be sitting in their trucks for awhile.

This is just before Mt Shasta City.

No Snow here is in the forecast - just very cold rain.

We all HOPE for snow - we like the snow around here! Of course it is more novelity when it snows here - plus it's good for all the local ski resorts.

If it's going to be THIS COLD, I want it to snow.

I like sitting at home and watching it snow. We get that so rarely here. I never experienced that until I moved here. Actually we did have a freak snow back in 1975/76 in March. I lived in an apartment overlooking the pacific ocean and there was snow on all the mountains. Just a dusting but it was pretty neat.

Seems like every year our summers get HOTTER and we get more snow here than ever before.

Snow in the mountains means WATER for us. So LET IT SNOW!

My husband left for the election polls before 6am. It was pouring rain.  Today was Bible study and I battled with myself - I did not want to go. I just don't have the clothing for this cold of weather.

After my HOT shower, I felt like I could do it. I was one of 4 who showed up! I'm glad I did.

Since coming home, I've been a cozy slug all day.

Received a couple of texts from my husband who said it was BUSY and that is always a good thing.

Foodie got a flat tire on his e-bike. So he arranged for Navy to come and pick him up in the truck. My little car won't fit his bike. It was pouring rain all around him. Life happens whether its cold or sunny.

I don't have to cook tonight - at the election polling place, they order pizza for all the workers - so I will just have some leftover tacos that I saved from last night. Just Heat them up, add my lettuce and cheese and hot sauce and yum.

I'm hesitant to keep turning on the heat - not knowing what to expect next month. I know our gas has gone up quite a bit - Yesterday morning it was 62 in my house. I usually turn the heat off. Navy said he is keeping his house at 66. Sorry but not sorry, I refuse to be that cold in my own home. I find for me, when it gets that cold, I don't want to move; even though moving would be the best thing to keep me warm. I finally jacked up the thermostat to 70. I have an crocheted poncho-shawl over my shoulders that is keeping me warm.

That's it for me. Now my fingers are all warmed up. Oh and Laydee doesn't like the rain or the cold. I have to coax her out to potty - stand there and root her on:

"Go pee, Laydee, go pee pee."

She does eventually - meanwhile I'm wet and cold. Silly dog - hmm, maybe silly me!
