Hot Fall weather, and NEW projects to look forward to.

California poppies are taking another run at it this year - 96 degrees right now. It's not a summer 96 - My AC hasn't kicked on yet and it's almost 3:30 pm. It's a comfortable 75 in the house.

With the way the sun is in a lower position - it starts getting hot inside the house around dinner time.

The mini roses are loving it.

A couple of years ago Sara gave me these towels she found at the Target bargain bins. I knew I wanted to make a pillow. They got packed away and I finally found them.

I live in an area with numerous black ravens so I have grown quite fond of the little troublemakers.

Note: Yeah yeah the hem is out on the curtain. (in the photo)
My dog pulled it out and I will hem it when I take them off to wash them soon.

I absolutely detest hemming anything.

I have been keeping myself out of trouble the past week. I decided to get in that back room to clean and organize.

It was a mess.

It's better than it was. Now my mind wanders to other projects...

1. paint the trim in my bedroom which I never did and the Husband says he won't help me with my other projects until I get that painted.

2. I want to paint my hallway - It's white and boring.

3. I want to paint the entryway. It is also white and boring.

4. I want to paint my dining room. It's yellow and just needs to be refreshed. I can hold off until after the holidays.

While I was in the back room - I was looking over at a Dresser that used to be in our bedroom. I don't like furniture other than a bed and end tables in the bedroom. A few years ago, I downsized my clothing and set my closet up with everything that the dresser used to hold.

I'm trying to get my husband to get rid of his chest of drawers - I gave him the bigger closet so he totally has the room. He's just a creature of habit.

I'd much rather have a chair or two where the furniture was.

ANYWAY, guess what I did? I took everything out of it - I had been using it to store old dog towels, and craft supplies - basically a really big dresser full of junk drawers.

My husband liked it - I did not.

I got the idea to just get rid of it.
The bedroom furniture used to belong to my parents -

I started with a small saber saw, to hack away but the wood is too hard. I hauled out the drawers to the patio and waited for the husband to come home to help with this heavy dresser.

When I get something in my head - that's all I can think about. I have some ideas on how to re-purpose it - probably just the wood and some of the drawers or drawer fronts.

Do you see the vision?

The only vision my husband sees is the junkyard but he knows he won't win this one.

I'm seeing multiple projects from this dresser.

The dresser I plan to take it apart gingerly with a sledgehammer (is that an oxymoron?) to the joints so I can loosen the joints and salvage the wood and decorative pieces. The top of the dresser could be refinished and cut horizontally so it's not as wide and use as a shelf??? We'll see once I start breaking it all apart.

Unfortunately, there are not many ideas for the dresser part; just the drawers.

I don't have any more room in my house for new furniture.  I'm content with what I have. So I might just make it for the sake of making it. I wouldn't sell it - I'm sure it wouldn't turn up that good - but it might be good enough to donate to a thrift store.

It will be a fun project and I hope to start dismantling it tomorrow.

PS. Yesterday's Wordless Wednesday was brought to you by my son, Navy on a recent hike.
