Fisher-Price is expanding its highly successful Thomas & Friends MINIS with the addition of all-new mash-up MINIS. Following the tremendous success of its partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, to offer DC Super Friends MINIS featuring Thomas as Superman, and his other engine friends as Robin, The Flash, and Cyborg, among others, Fisher Price is set to debut more than 35 new DC Super Friends mash-up MINIS inspired by the world’s greatest Super Heroes.
Additionally, Fisher-Price is taking things to a pineapple under the sea when they debut a whole new set of more than 10 Thomas & Friends-SpongeBob SquarePants MINIS.
The Thomas & Friends mash-up MINIS are part of a line of small-scale, collectible Thomas & Friends engines that launched in 2015. In just 10 months, Wal-Mart, one of the retailers where MINIS are available, sold more than five million MINIS. The new mash-up MINIS will be available as 4-packs retailing for $6.99 and 9-packs retailing for $14.99 in Spring 2016 in the U.S. and in select international markets.
Mike Pisors, Director of Thomas & Friends Toy Global Brand Marketing, said, “Thomas & Friends is a beloved brand spanning generations, but we know today’s children not only play with trains, but also cars, blocks and action figures. Our partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products allows us to bring to life mash-ups of preschoolers’ all-time favorite DC Comics Super Heroes and Super-Villains for a relevant, winning combination kids will love.”
In addition to bringing the mash-up MINIS to toy aisles, Fisher-Price is also planning to develop more exciting online content around the mash-up lines, building on the videos created for the debut of the mash-up MINIS in 2015.
Some of the brand new mash-up MINIS for 2016 include:
- DC Super Friends:
- Wonder Woman/Emily
- Poison Ivy/Emily
- Lex Luther/Paxton
- Green Lantern/Gator
- Green Arrow/Henry
- Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants:
- Mermaid Man/Bash
- Plankton/Diesel 10
