Sweet Spot: Visiting Polar Playground for Cotton Candy in Huntington Beach

Eating Baby Yoda cotton candy? This is the way! I’ve been dying to go to @polarplayground for a LONG time. When my friend @tiki30 posted a photo of the Pooh Bear cotton candy on his story about a month ago wondering where to get it, I immediately DMed him and said “OH MY GOD I KNOW WHERE IT IS, LET’S GO!!” And we finally made it happen!

This shop is more than cotton candy. It’s an experience. The team meticulously crafts each order in real time, eliciting oohs and ahhs from every single person in the shop. There’s an air of excitement and wonder that emits from every single person, young or old! Seeing these creations come to life is just truly magical.

Cuddling with my deliciously oversized Baby Yoda!
T.K. and I definitely dressed for the occasion!
I knew I wanted the Baby Yoda, and of course I had to bound for the occasion! When I texted T.K. to tell him, he said, “Well, of course I’m wearing my Pooh look, so go for it!” Great minds. Also, we were the only people who dressed up like the characters we were getting, and everyone around us went nuts.

A word to the wise — you will definitely be waiting in line! We arrived at 12:30 for the 1pm opening and were already the 5th group. By the time it opened at 1, there were at least 20 more groups behind us. Each creation takes 5-10 minutes as well, so expect to be there for at least an hour. Get there early so you cut down on your wait time once it opens!

That said, they are excellent with crowd control. The line wraps around outside in the shopping center (and is all under an overhang, thank goodness in the sunshine)! They let in about 5 groups at a time depending on the group size.

The sign with all of the characters available for the day.

Loved this wire sign of their logo above the seating area.
Just look at all of that delicious cotton candy!

The neon sign where everyone wants to take photos!

Prices range from $15-$17 depending on what you get and if you add any accoutrements like hearts, mohawks, or baseball caps. With tax and tip, mine was $19.

Do you think Baby Yoda is big enough?

Watching the team make my Baby Yoda!
He was almost too cute to eat! Almost.

If you’re looking for a fun experience that will put a huge smile on your face, this is DEFINITELY it!
